We have a client that does a lot of tree trimming and just piles up the limbs and then calls us to pick up the piles with the skid steer. We thought that we would buy him a very nice hand saw, and engrave his name on it. However I am having a difficut time in figuring out which saw to buy. I have used the fano saw and it has worked pretty good. It comes down to the three, Fanno, (I like the D handle), Silky, or Samurai. We will buy the scabbard as well. Most limbs are 1" to 4" in diam.

If you are planning on engraving his name on the handle I would go with a wood handled Fano or a Fiskars. The Silkey saws are very nice but all have rubber handles.

Excellent point, I guess I could take it somewhere and engrave on the blade. But I guess it would only last until you change out the blade.

What are the scabbards made out of?

They make little metallic nameplates that look like gold with adhesive on the back. I got one with a gun case as a present onetime. You could probably find one at a place that sells trophies and whatnot. Just adhere it to the scabbard of the silkey as has been mentioned.

Silky Zubat!! Hands down!

Bailies is running a Silky Zubat 13" Curved Pruning Saw and Sawpod Special Combo Deal for $85. They also have it without the sawpod for $60. Is the sawpod contraption worth $25 bucks?

You said 1-4 inch diameter I say the Silky Ibuki it cuts the small stuff as well as the Zubat but the blade has a stiffer spine (thicker) and flex's less. It is an animal on the bigger stuff. Personally I would have to love a customer to give a Silky but they may be doing the right thing for your business.

Personally, I think this has to be the most lame, gay topic, that I've ever seen on here.. carry on though!

Guess it depends if it is a female customer and she likes sporting something like Victoria Secret and chaps when you come by to pick up the bush I mean brush. Did that un-gay it for you Tree MDS?

Thanks. Good thread. This is the advice I was looking for.
