Buying slab firewood

Disagree. There is going to be splitting involved unless you are using it for bonfires. Some slab wood logs sold around here are 18" wide. I've spent hours splitting them after bucking to length. Less than half do not require splitting.
But my OWB has a 24 inch wide door. Just throw it in.
 
Around here small and hobby mills will give it away for free. But stuff from the bigger mills all goes to making pellets, so it's not as plentiful as it once was.

Some folks will grab it to finish the season if they are running out of wood, but it's not very popular around here. I grabbed a load once to help a buddy clean up around his bandsaw mill. Mix of beech, hemlock and pine. Worked fine when mixed with regular wood. But the pieces would be a little too small if that's all I had to burn.

Why split them?? 18" wide, I just cut them SHORTER so they fit through the door...

NO need to make two operations out of it!
