I would like to buy something like a quality universal clutch removal set that works for most brands and sizes of clutch. My cobbled together junk is about to be thrown away.

Can anyone recommend a set?

If you have a supply of scrap steel, some old sockets a grinder and a welder- you can fabricate just about any clutch removal tool needed for any particular make or model.
Does not have to look pretty- just has to work.
A punch and a hammer has removed many different styles of clutch in a needs must situation.

Good piston stops are first and foremost.

I have all that crud. I like to buy nicer stuff but it seems like no manufacturer has stepped up to make a line of saw specific tools. (Retired Snapon dealer).

Um, start looking at the saw manufacturers and their proprietary tools- the big ones sell specific pretty looking tools to suit their clutches- start looking, ordering and handing over wads of cash then.
Once upon a time, if you purchased a new pro saw (even some Rancher/Farmboss models) the supplied tool kit came with a clutch removal tool.

Here’s what I envision. A nice set in a dedicated, divided box with a group of tools that will work on most all saws. In automotive these things exist as legion.

Maybe a set for graphing timing without coat hangers and drill chucks too 🤷🏼‍♂️

Small engine work has been happening long enough it is hard to believe some company hasn’t set themselves apart as the “go to”.

Because there is very little money in it for any tool manufacturer of quality.
I think Farmertec sell knock offs of most of the big manufacturers clutch removal tools- can sit on the shadow board and look pretty- but use them at your own risk.
