cylinder quality
i think the nicest big block stihl cylinder i have seen was a mahle from the 066 red light era . as far as overall quality plateing ect. those were some damn nice units around that time. perhaps new molds ect. i have seen a quality decline in craftsmenship since those days. in the ones i have been inside of as other respected builders have mentioned. i dont get in to as many of them as i would like. they dont sell as strong in northern mich as they do in the southern part of the state. however something has definately changed since those days. makes me wish i would have bought one new stihl 066 mag and kept it in the stable for myself. i have seen it in mahles on a couple of personal saws i bought new in 2000 372 xp lots of porosity on castings around transfers. 365 special same year bought same day perfect casting almost flawless. both had good plateing though. kinda wierd however they both ran strong . and still do.
