So what do you think of your new 5100S?
Frank said you picked it up the other day.

Not Yet

He musta sold one to somebody else. I haven't pulled the trigger yet. I have a tractor torn down for an engine overhaul that is sucking money out of my pocket faster than I can put it in. Looks like I may have to wait a little longer. Are you any happier with yours? Maybe I should hold out for a 7900 instead?

7900 vs 5100

Two total different saw classes.. One is considerably heavier and much stronger..so all depends on what your purchase is aimed at.

Yeah, I know they're apples & oranges, but I already have a couple of 40-50cc saws and was looking to update to the latest & greatest. My only "big" saws are old (Mac S44A) and Rare (BP-1). They don't see more than 10-15 hrs of use per year combined, but it's still a pain to tote a 25 lb saw around (S44A). The BP-1 w/ 24" bar is a decent saw to use, but I feel like I'm using a GT-40 to haul groceries. I guess I'm just another victim of 5100 mania...

catskinr & scooterbum,
How far are you guys from Natural Bridge? I've been meaning to take the family (or the wife at least) on vacation to Natural Bridge.

Yeah actually I'm pretty happy with it.Just a totaly different feel then the saws I'm used to.
Muffler mod and richened her up a little, better chain and 12 tanks of fuel has made a big difference.Too much hype I think.
The offer to come by still stands just give a call.
Given the 2 horses your cuttin' with I think either Dolmar would be nice.
I spent way too many years cuttin' with old heavy saws, then I got my Jonsered 49sp and found out what anti-vibe was.Now the addiction :)

RB when you go by Natural Chimneys check out the Safari Park.
It's a drive through that is great. It'll take about 2-3 hours to complete.
My wife and kids love it.

P.S. I will have a 7900 in about 3-4 weeks!
