Was wondering on chain and bar combo for my 346xp. Looking at woodsmanpro 20nk chain and a arborpro bar. Opinions please. I don't get in the dirt much, usually a little dirt on the bark from pulling the tree out where I can cut it up. I don't think I need a 75 dollar bar for my saw. Don't know what came with the saw, but it sure seems to dull fast. Don't think a full chisel chain work to well for me. Gonna call bailey's tomorrow. Thanks for the help.

I thought that chain was delicate and the cutter would easily break. My experiance. Baileys new catolog has carlton pro champ in .375 for 17.95, if you're not bent on sticking with .325. I'd match whatever bar with semi-chisel.
There was a similar post a couple days ago if you want to do a search and see the other comments.

The Oregon 95VP/Husky H30 chain has no record of breaking teeth, like the 20NK has - as far as I know. Unlike the 20NK, it is also a low-vibe chain.

It is sort of semi-chisel (but with a sharper/narrower corner than most semi-chisel chain), and it will fit the Arborpro NK bars, Oregon Micro-Lites and Huskys "original" NK/Pixel bars.

The 95VP works great on the 346xp, 353, and other saws down to about 40cc.

H30 is one heck of chain, cuts like wonder and stays sharp pretty well...

I have been using the nk Arborpro bar with 20nk on my 5100 S and am quite happy with it. Cuts well in both oak and pine/juniper and stays sharp for quite a while. No broken teeth here. I have not used the 95vp, however.

Micro-lite & 95vp

Before I got my MS 361 I used my 353 (similar to 346xp) for everything and occassionally put a 20" bar on it. I bought a basic Microlite bar and 95vp combo from the local big box store. I really liked the chain but that bar bent very easily. Now that I use the 353 exclusively for lighter work, I bought a 16" Microlite Pro bar so I could go back to the 95vp chain. I haven't used it yet but I'm hoping that between the bar being a quality upgrade and shorter in length that the bending isssue will vanish.

Sawtroll you seem to like the 95vp/short bar set-up, has bending been a problem at all?

Dont know about sawtroll, but in my 353 with 13" bar and H30 chain (same as 95vp) the bending isnt a issue, unless you drop the butt of log on the tip of bar,...

Mine is wearing a 16" .325 .050 closeout Carlton Timber Champ ($10!) bar from Bailey's and spinning Oregon 20LP. I like this combo quite a bit although 95VP is also good stuff.
