You can burn cutters with a CBN wheel.
Hows it compare to burning cutters with the pink wheel ?You can burn cutters with a CBN wheel.
Alright now which is which before I spend $$$$!!!
wonder if someone could post a link to one of the better diamond cbn for steel that would fit Stihl usg?Okay, I may be repeating an earlier post, but here goes:
ABN or CBN coated wheels are used for grinding steel/chrome plated steel cutters (standard saw chain). Diamond coated wheels are for grinding carbide cutters (very expensive special saw chain - rare)
Now.....There is a company out there by the name of "Diamond Wheel". They make both CBN coated wheels as well as diamond coated wheels. So some folks may state they are using a "diamond wheel" when they are actually using a CBN coated wheel made by Diamond Wheel, Inc.
Toofriggin late for me ............ just pulled the plug on the CBNAlright now which is which before I spend $$$$!!!
Brad did ........... just look in his linkwonder if someone could post a link to one of the better diamond cbn for steel that would fit Stihl usg?
I'm going to put this CBN wheel info here for reference.

I believe all three of these companies make them. They're listed on the Diamond Wheels page. I believe you can find it on the Foley site. I think Radiac rolls have to custom make it.wonder if someone could post a link to one of the better diamond cbn for steel that would fit Stihl usg?
.......... just pulled the plug on the CBN.
Sure thing !!Please share your impressions of the CBN wheel, compared to your conventional wheels, once you have had a chance to run it for a while, either here, or in a separate thread.
Thanks!
Philbert
Sure thing !!
My largest obstacle is the heat that the pink wheels put into a cutter.
I absolutely refuse to file any chain that was on a grinder, so maybe this CBN wheel can overcome heating up the cutter.
I will be hooking up an air coolant system if the CBN wheel heats up the cutter too much. I thought about the cyclone wheel too, but wondered how durable it would be long term with all of the cutoutsI ordered two 511AXs during lunch. $289/ea w/free shipping I'll be ordering a flat CBN wheel for rakers and a 3/16 CBN wheel for sharpening. I'm still waiting to hear back on a price for a CBN Cyclone before ordering the wheels.
