my brother recently ordered a bunch of chains from Baileys. im not sure of the brand he got for his saw, but i know the chains for my husky are in the "woodsman pro" boxes. i do NOT like them. they cut at an angle, dull to easily, and seem to be made of very soft metal IMO because when im filing them it looks like ALOT of shavings comes off of the teeth. the chain for his 660 was cutting in circles the other day, even after i sharpened it the cut still looked like crap ( customer wanted the stump left 2' high with a flat top ) and even after a fresh sharpening the top was anything but flat and straight.

if theres anything i do good in this business its sharpen chains:laugh: and if i cant get a chain to cut straight, theres something wrong with the chain.

i dont mean to bash the company, the price was right, but im not impressed.. and the 2 "arborpro" bars for the 020Ts had the sprockets fall out in the front with very little use...

anyone else have these same problems?

Are you certain that your bar rails are even and there is proper gauge spacing for the gauge chain you bought?

No.

Do you grease the nose sprockets? Some folks do, some do not. I wonder if your bar on the 660 might be worn. Can you wiggle the chain side to side when it is mounted up and properly tensioned? You might also want to check to see if the oiler is putting out enough bar oil.

I can't comment on the arbor pro bars as I have never used one.

I have a few customers that have brought in saws with the WP chain and they never commented anything like this.

The reason I asked is I have in my wanderings in this business seen misboxed chains from all the various manufacturers.

I have not however ever seen a misnumbered chain in the number stamp on the chain.

I am not arguing nor taking any side I was just offering a suggestion.

Have you spoken with Baileys about the problem?

the 660 has a new Stihl bar on it also.

SawTroll- it always cuts at the same angle.... id think if it were slop in between the bar and chain ( wrong guage ) it would cut either direction

No problems here

I've yet to have problems with Woodsman Pro chains. I've heard that they are softer or harder than others. All I know is that in my applications they cut well, stay sharp for a decent amount of time, are easy to sharpen ( If I can do it, it's got to be easy), and are reasonably priced.

So far I have no complaints about my WP RC chain. Cuts fast, straight and for as soft as it is I was impressed with the shape of the edges after I grazed some dirt.

I have never seen really bad reports on them, and several quite good ones......;)

Been using 050 3/8 Full Round chisel WP chains without a problem, cut straight out of the box, the only thing I noted and another that tried my saw with the new WP chain was it felt like you had to push it into the cut when new out of the box. However after a good hand sharpen touch up this extra push was not needed on the feed.

Builtough350 - Do you have any pictures of the chain and bar??? Pictures could eliminate most of the guess work for us.

Hard to believe it's the chain's fault...

Yeah...I've used a lot of this chain and I've yet to have any problem with it. Unless it got run too dull and then overfiled and then filed crookedly at that. I think I'd take it to a saw shop and have them true it up and see what happens then. If theres still an issue I'd contact the supplier and work it out with them...privately.

Apparently Bob... the thread starter really knows his stuff when filing chains...:D

I have used there 3/8 low profile stuff and thought it was good. I thought it was comparable to Oregon chain in hardness. But for my small saw I like stihl or the old sandvik stuff that I cant get anymore. But right now as I type I am reaching for the phone and going to order a new short bar and chain from Bailey's for my 2159. Dam clear-out specials! will it ever end.,
