ii still have 2 unused chains in the truck, if those cut crooked too, ill know its not a fluke...
.

That should confirm that you have worn the bar rails out of level. No matter how you sharpen or how many new chains you put on they will still cut crooked. Ten thou. low on one side is enough and doesnt take long to happen if you push on a chain that is dulled one side. I would bet the price of a new bar and chain that Baileys does not selling any crooked cutting chains.:D
Edit; it has happened that something inside a cluch cover or chain guide plates causes interference that dulls cutters on one side. Whatever the cause it is extremely remote that it is the fault of the new chain.

What about the Rakers? Unlikely on a new chain, but doesn't hurt to check? I know that the rakers can have a big effect on curving in the kerf.

The last tree H42/73LP chains I got had rakers that needed 5-10 strokes with the file to get down to normal height.
I used one of them for a few cuts before I discovered it, but it only cut a bit slow, and not crooked.......

SawTroll, I think it is time you threw that old raker file away and got a new one;)
If there is variation in raker height and you happened to get a chain assembled from different height ones on different sides, it is possible to get a crooked cutting chain. I have hit the odd loop of chain where the rakers were very definitely HARDER (like too hard to file) on one side only. The stamping and heat treat of left and right cutters is a separate operation so could conceivably show up on a few consecutive loops of chain. I think someone once posted a picture of a chain that had 8 or 10 same side cutters in a row. Still rare enough to make me bet it is something on the saws end of things.

Thanks for the tip, one of those files was in fact pretty worn (the new ones were at the cottage and one of the chains was filed at home).
However, it took 5-7 strokes with a new one also.......

Usually I change them out pretty often, as with the round files, but ....:D

I started breaking mine on purpose when they're worn so that I don't make a mistake and head out in the woods with an old file! Learned that one the hard way. Got PI$$ED off and broke the file, then thought, hey, what a good idea, and I get to break stuff without repercussions.

edit: I mean the round files......don't know if I could break a flat one if I wanted to.

Howdy Built,
Sorry that you're having issues with our product. We totally stand behind everything we sell whether it's OEM or private labeled. Please give me an order number, or a name the order was placed under. This way we can double check item numbers on the collate, against the numbers on the packaging that you received. This way we can also establish the correct compatibility for your cutting equipment.

It has been my experience that if you order a chain from Bailey's that they offer in a stock/pre-made loop size it comes in Woodsman Pro packaging. If you order a chain that is not a stock size and they make it up from your drive link count they ship in a plain white box. It should have an idenification sticker on the end flap of the box and is the same chain.

The two 20" 30RC loops that I ordered a month ago came in white boxes.

Carlton ran out of printed "WoodsmanPRO" boxes this winter, so in order to keep from backordering chain loops because of a box shortage, we told them to put the chain in their white, unbranded boxes for a short while. Latest orders are coming in with standard boxes now.
