Apparently Bob... the thread starter really knows his stuff when filing chains...:D

LOL...Yeah, maybe so. But even a gray haired wrinkled old fart like me can learn something new. Everytime I've ever shot my mouth off and said I "knew my stuff" about something it didn't take long for somebody that knew more to show up...and show me how little I really knew.

Yeah...I've used a lot of this chain and I've yet to have any problem with it. Unless it got run too dull and then overfiled and then filed crookedly at that. I think I'd take it to a saw shop and have them true it up and see what happens then. If theres still an issue I'd contact the supplier and work it out with them...privately.

Twice I have called Bailey's becouse I wasn't happy with the product. Both times they were extremly helpful and made sure that I was satisfied. They seem to want to make sure that their custumers get good value for their money.
Make double sure that there is a problem with the chain, if there is give them a call and see what happens.

What about the Rakers? Unlikely on a new chain, but doesn't hurt to check? I know that the rakers can have a big effect on curving in the kerf.

Also, What about your bar being bent?

i smell some brown nosing going on.

so check this out- two different people, using the ArborPro bars ( brand new ) and put the exact chain that came with those 2 bars, run them on a Stihl 020T for less than 5 days on one saw, and less than 1 full day on the other saw... and have BOTH bars sprockets on the front fall out of place... DOESNT sound like crappy product to you? how come the factory Stihl bars on those same saws, run by the same people, managed to last a few MONTHS?

not to mention, one of the brand new chains before the bar was replaced, wouldnt even dig in to the trees... the rakers shouldnt be a problem at all- since it was a NEW chain! it cut, when you rocked the saw to get it to bite into the tree. not how it should work.

considering one climber with 15 years experience, my brother who has been around the business most of his life, and another climber with 5+ years experience doesnt like these chains either, im gonna have to go ahead and say that the chains we recieved SUCK.

And using a saw as a Ditch Witch!!!:crazy1:

Interesting, I've been very happy with all of it I've ever bought. I've got a lot of the ripping chain, and a 25" loop that cuts like mad and stays sharp. I find the teeth to be nearly as hard as Stihl, and noticably harder than Oregon. I'd buy more tomorrow.

i've got a 24" ArborPro Professional Logger bar that i have used quite a bit and am happy with it.. my only complaint is that it had a hole with a plastic plug right behind the sprocket tip...plug came out and would fill with sawdust and get bound up in the cut.....so i MIG welded it..fixed the problem...ive ran quite a bit of woodsman pro chain and had good luck

What was this thread about, I'm having trouble thinking clearly after seeing rahtreelimbs last post.

Oh yea, I use only woodsman pro chain, never had a problem, and I'm not the greatest sharpener around.

Hate to add to the crowd, but I love the woodsman pro chains. Got about 10 of them. All cut great. Sounds like something else is wrong. Never used the arborpro bars. All mine are stihl oregon, or carlton.
also, I believe the woodsman pro is carlton brand chain--good stuff, IMHO.

post a note over in the bailey's form with your complaints and i'm sure you'll get taken care of. at the least, you'll get more than all of us who've never had problems saying you're bent. otherwise... :deadhorse:

i've only ever had a problem with one item from baileys. and i started ordering from them over a dozen years ago.

for reference, it was a stump vise that stripped out. :censored: good thing it was painted red becasue after i threw it through the woods, it was easy to find... :biggrinbounce2:

i think the part that bugged me the most was the sprockets in the tip of the ArborPro bars crapping out... seems like a simple enough part to make sturdy. as for the chains- we keep them out of the dirt to make them last as long as possible... i still have 2 unused chains in the truck, if those cut crooked too, ill know its not a fluke...

the chains for my brothers stihl 660 came in a plain white box i believe, so who knows that brand those are.

all the woodsman pro chain i've gotten from bailey's has come in a "woodsman pro" box. never in a white box. i forget what is stamped on their links...

It has been my experience that if you order a chain from Bailey's that they offer in a stock/pre-made loop size it comes in Woodsman Pro packaging. If you order a chain that is not a stock size and they make it up from your drive link count they ship in a plain white box. It should have an idenification sticker on the end flap of the box and is the same chain.
