Steve here...
Anyone have an old chainsaw bluebook, they would like to sell.
I am setting up a saw race this next summer at our County fair, and the book would come in handy for saw specs/class set up.
I don't much care how old it is, just looking for saw specs.
Thanks, Steve

My suggestion: A notebook computer and Mike's site. I also could pull some specs out of old manuals but the problem is they would have to pre-register the models.

Bill,
Steve here... Yep I was thinking about how I could use Mikes site too. But a book would be pretty handy the day of the show for walk ins.

You probably will care how old it is because of model coverage. I have a couple of old ones but I keep them for older model reference.

Intertec has apparently been taken over by another company. The newer books are better than twice as large as the half size 1993 issue and they are around $50.

You may want to choose your size brackets other than the traditional even cubic inches method. The reason is that some really good popular saws just fall at the wrong end of some inches brackets. Naturally it is to ones disadvantage to fall at the bottom end of a class (For instance a 353 Husky at the bottom of 4 cube class)

You also gotta watch the guys that will stick a 362 label on a 372 and so forth.

You may want to say "stock appearing" instead of stock, or define the modifications that you will accept. Remember that stock w/o a teardown of the winner = stock appearing.

z if it ll help u out i got the grounds equip book for 2002.. u can borrow it. it has an section on saws..
gives original price ,,trade in value,,cubic inch ,,cc,, wt ,,type oiler,,recommended bar.. i do value it but am not presently looking at used saws much so u can borrow it .. or i can try to get t hat section copied,, so u can keep it.. that may not be the info u need ,,

ps goes back to 85

Hi Steve, When is the race going to be? What types of classes are you going to have? Sounds fun.

Can we say Sunny Florida

Steve here...
Down in Florida visiting my parents...
Tony I pm'd you my address.
Scott, we are going to run stock classes, and one modified class if I get any interest. We will also have a stocksaw class with a supplied saw and chain, like we did out by you. I have the exact class breakdown at work, but that is subject to change depending on the turnout.. If you guys bring down a bunch of antique saws I would set up a class for that. Since it's the first year, we are going to have to see what kind of turn out we get. I will have pre registration forms within the next few months. It is going to be Saturday July 24th at 6:00pm. It will be in a show arena with lights bleachers, a speaker system, oh and a roof. This will be during our county fair. So far we plan to have a small cash pay out and plaques, first thru third. I would sure hope you, and Les and the boys would bring the Macs down for the modified class, then I could run my 2100super. More info to follow as I get it.

Chainsaw race Washington County Fair WI

Steve here...
Have more info on the saw race, July 24 at 7:00 pm,

Here are the classes, these may be changed as needed. When I have a pre register forms I will send them out to those interested in competing. The classes will be $3 a class pre register, and $5 a class the day of the race. I am alegedly getting 15inch ish white pine, and some smaller stuff for the little saws. We may have a stock saw class where everyone runs the same saw and chain, for tyme.
Stock saw
2.0-2.5cube inch
2.6-3.0
3.1-3.5
3.6-4.0
4.1-4.9
5.0-5.9
And a modified class if any saws show up.
This is all subject to change depending on what we get for saws
Remember to get to cubes from cc's multiply cc's by .061
