If you DON'T know how to PROPERLY deal with a spring pole then you are best NOT to deal with it untill you can get proper instruction!!! They are DEADLY!!! I've broken two ribs because of them and that was because I was tired and in a hurry, I knew better but was tring to make better time. It was a spring pole about 2 1/2'' in diameter and it through me back about four feet into a brush pile.

Ahh, leave it to a woman(Che) to cheat and find a way to use mechanical advantage in the chainsaw toss. Of course you`re not supposed to throw the good saws. :D

A guy that I worked with ???? near killed himself cutting a springpole. It was twisted around so that it unwound and came upward, striking him in the underside of the tip of his nose. He woke up with a wound to his forehead where his glasses had been driven into it, a broken nose, and blood and pain everywhere. A half inch closer to his face and his nose probably would have been driven into his brain. Oh yeah, he was working alone that day to boot.

A word to the wise, be especially cautious if heavy equipment has pushed the trees over and or moved them into a pile.
A Hitachi 200 can load a full length stem with so many tension and compression changes over the length that it is like trying to defuse a bomb.
With brush and logs moved by machine even a small branch can trigger something much bigger.
And yes I found out you don't need wings to fly.
