Well I had a bit of a fire from spilled gas and a leaky fuel tank and kinda cooked my beloved Homelite 1050. Have been in morning for about 3 weeks. I work for UPS and we ratified a new contract about 9 months ago. Three locals still had issues so the pay increases couldn't go through until they were resolved. Just got a letter that all issues were resolved and we will be getting the retro pay raise check in a couple weeks. My wife said "Your Dad bought that saw in 1972, it doesn't owe you anything. Build it a coffin and bury it. Take your retro check and go buy a new 880 with 59" bar." Well, she didn't say a 880 and 59" bar, but I know that's what she meant. I just got a side job to take down the stub of a big Maple I took down several years ago. I'm gonna need the 59" bar just to notch it. Hopefully it hasn't rotted so bad there is no good wood left in it. If it's not hollow I might have some nice spalted wood. Will keep you posted on new saw and the Maple. Here's a couple pics of the Maple when I took it down. I left the trunk about where I'm standing. The bark is all falling off with an inch or so of punky wood under it. But under that it feels solid. Got my fingers crossed there is some good wood in it, Joe.

Nice wood, and great saw! It looks like you got a new 039 super, but I can't quite tell for sure from the pics.
