I use it and it works great. If a person does not enough common sense not to know how to use a product they probably are not someone you want to buy from.I once received an item, where the seller placed it in a plastic bag, and tried to fill the rest of the box with foam-in-a-can insulation / sealant.
As I recall, it did not work as well as he expected, but was OK.
I think that the trick would be finding the right kind of foam. Something that expanded to fill large volumes (some of the window seal stuff won’t), but won’t expand and blow the cardboard box apart.

That is the way it should be.I bought 3 low water use toilets online. Had free shipping even though I live in the middle of nowhere.
They told me to check the box’s before I signed for them
They were packed in heavy duty cardboard boxes and spray foam.
They could have been dropped from the truck with no issues
There are different types and densities of expanding foams.I use it and it works great. If a person does not enough common sense not to know how to use a product they probably are not someone you want to buy from.

I am aware of that. There are different types and densities of expanding foams.
The window sealing types, sold at most home centers, are intended for small beads, and need air to set. You need to build up multiple layers.
Foams intended for wall insulation, or marine buoyancy, can be used to fill larger voids. These are often dispensed as 2-part mixes.
