I trimmed 4 trees yesterday with shorts on (no spikes). I wanted to try it and won't be doing it again. The saw catches you in the leg, sawdust in the boots and multiple scratches on the legs. Just thought I would clear that up for anyone wanting to give it a go...........

I forgot the exhaust to the legs too.

I climb like that all the time when it's hot, other than the occasional "hot touch" from the exhaust area, its a fair trade off.

scratches and sawdust?

:confused::dizzy:
sounds like just another day at work.

Kinda depends on where you are, too.
I'm in VA now, and its regularly well over 90, and while I was in TX or FLA, (or any other state down there) it was always in in the upper 90's and humid as hell.

I've worked in well over a 100, and even so, prefer hot weather to cold weather any day.

to bad about your girlish image.

just kidding!

i hear shorts all the time but i hate the heat.sometimes the wood chips get under your gaff pads but i can deal with it.

the winter is for healing the scratches.LOL

Spikes would be easier seing as they protect your leg, but wrapping my legs around the tree and jaming them into crotches and such just wasn't as nice as with pants. It really wasn't a big deal as long as the chain and hot exhaust weren't directly on your leg.

Now a man would wear shorts in January while trimming the Oaks.

Let's be honest here, nails, you were just showin' some leg for the ladies, right? I've never climbed in shorts and to be honest, the only time I wear shorts is when I'm swimming, other than that my wranglers do just fine.

i hear ya on the exhaust.

i like them so far.great return policy too if you had a problem.they have held up well so far for me.

like i said,i don't like heat.

i wear shorts from about April to well into October.

I love climbing in shorts, my legs dont like it all that much. I am loaded with scratches, scrapes and scars from doing it. I grip the tree a lot with my legs when rope climbing and the legs take a beating. Wife told me I cant do it anymore because my legs look like they got run over by a road grader.

I have a 200t, when trimming though it's the 192t. I run Carhart loggers, double fronts and heavy.

arborwear pants year round.

+1 They are like a great pair of boots, "anything else just feels kinda weak".
But, I have to admit I did pick up a couple of pair of the new "tech" pants this past winter, and they are NICE when it's mid 90's and I have to do a b-load of climbing.
