I was out at the wood lot for a couple of hours of firewood therapy this evening. I'm cutting a bunch of diseased beech and hauling it out tree length to a small landing. While unhooking one of my logs, I pulled the side by side up a few feet to unhook my chain. When I got out and went around the opposite side, I found my 359 lodged under the right rear wheel. The tire had just started to twist the rear handle/fuel tank. 2 more inches and she'd have been toast. The firewood Gods were on my side tonight!

...close call indeed. Good the saw survived unscathed.

I seen more than a few pieces of "hand held" equipment run over. I make it a rule to never place my equipment (especially small OPE) on open ground and walk away from it. I'll set it on a stump, right up next to the back side of a tree, on the hood of the little tractor, in the trailer, etc... never on open ground. Heck, I won't even set equipment on an open tailgate... if I set it in the back of a pickup, I close the tailgate. I watched a guy moving his pickup once with a saw on the tailgate. It was in a tight spot so he had to go forward and backwards a few times to get it moved... he backed up and hit the brakes, saw fell off... pulled forward, hit the brakes... and backed up again, right over the saw. I was yelling at him, but he couldn't hear over the radio with the windows rolled up. I also have a circular saw, heavy-duty drop cord, carpenter square, a nice hickory-handled hammer, and a leather tool belt (with a wood chisel in one of the pockets) I found scattered on the road shoulder over about a ¼ mile... a little bit of road rash, but very serviceable.

almost as bad as hitting a dead bloated animal with a bush hog.
That made me laugh. I think I'd rather fix the saw. Lol.

I was raking the beach at our cabin earlier this week and there was a rotten northern maybe 10 lbs washed up and quite decayed. Even after I pitchforked it and hauled it away the whole area stunk.

I heard WS had some friends flying in from Warshington and Northern CA to help.
Funny as hell!!! I wonder just how 'slow' the job would get done. Nevermind a few iced down cases, bring the whole damn distributor truck. Lol.

Well... since it's derailed...

I actually have relatives (wife's side) from Miami, FL coming today... them and their 5 kid (ages 11 to new born). We've never met them, she actually found them on Face Book of all places... and they're gonna' be staying 4 friggin' days. On day three we've got more (local) relatives coming to meet them and have a BBQ... something 'round 20 people.

So... we've been trying to get ready for this, and it's been a week from hell. Not only did the septic plug, the water pressure tank started leaking, the grass cutter sputtered and quit, and the vacuum cleaner quit. And to top it all off, while I'm working on the septic yesterday the wife gets in her van to go into town for "supplies" and the friggin' alternator has crapped-out.

Weather radar shows a thunderstorm bearing down on us right now... should be here within the hour.
Any bets on where the only lightening bolt will strike :nofunny:
I mean, if you're gonna' host a family reunion and have 7 house guests for 4 days, and the running water quits, then the toilet quits, ya' can't clean the carpet or cut the grass, and the grocery hauler dies... why not have the electricity quit also?? A perfect end to a week from hell‼

I better go check the beer fridge, it likely went up in smoke overnight.
Crapping in a bucket and washing in the river is one thing, but I can't serve them warm beer... they might think I'm some sort of heathen.

When it rains it pours! I've been there a time or two before. I always say if I didn't have bad luck I wouldn't have any luck at all.

Sounds like you are dealing with O'Riley's law--that's the one that states Murphy was an optimist:yes:

Un-friggin'-believable... no BS... I have the emergency generator running right now‼ Big clap of thunder about 20 minutes ago, lights flickered... and went out‼ Likely just a transformer up the line and they'll have us back in service before noon... but still.

My wife looks like she could start sobbing any second now

I keep telling her it'll be just fine... we're in good shape. I patched the pressure tank, got the septic working, bought her a new vacuum, got the grass cutter running and finished the mowing last night, the new alternator should be at the parts house this morning... and worst case, I've got plenty of gas for the generator
