just curious .. i noticed ehp posted some cold start times..is that really cold starts .
or just cranking an cutting,an already warmed up saw...i know my 962 looks pretty bad until after about
4-5 minutes cuttingl. then she starts tov really get into it..shes pretty hard to keep up with then.but pretty ordinary until she warms to it a bit..just wondering.

From the little I've seen on ESPN when they show the timbersports competitions, the saws are warmed up before the race. I think cold start just refers to the fact that starting the saw is part of the overall timing of the race. The fact that these guys can pull start a high compression 325cc (or more) engine is pretty darn amazing. I wonder if they have a compression release?

Now that you mention it, let's put pull starters on all the unlimited class saws, and see what the times are like then.

Can you imagine pull-starting a saw like Predator?

Tony most places give you 20 to 30 seconds to warm your saw up then you shut it off , time starts with your hands on the block on go or when they move, then you have to start your saw make 3 cuts in 6 inches of wood, does not matter the size of wood you still only get 6 inches.
on compression releases yes the 325 has 2 just above the ext. port , some bikes have 1 and some others have 4

Good thing theres compression releases on those saws, I dont want to try starting that predator saw by hand, probably break an arm, if I'm lucky.

thanks, i can see how a saw would be warmed up in 30 seconds,as she would continue to build heat more, after u cut it off..just curious.

Well......Tony it won't actually build any more heat but it will distribute the heat a bit more evenly after shut off. Technically it will be cooling down though after shut off not heating up (unless it was so cold that setting it in the sun warms it).
