question all. just got back from a farm auction, I bought a cable puller, under the name of Clydsdale. we call them cable walkers here. the cable feeds through the device and it pulls itself along the cable. I see they retail at the industial supply store for nere $ 700.00 can. I got this for $50.00. it has never been used still new in the box. My question is, it didn,t come with a cable, what type of cable does it take. I heard that it will only grap onto a braided cable, not a twisted. I can't find them on the web, havn't made it to the city yet to inquire. any expierience?

Sounds like the machine I have, a Tirfor. Very important the cable is the right size. Talk to someone who sells Tirfor type machines, mine is not standard, it is metric, around 7/16".
