This is possibly the dumbest thing I have ever done, however, there is a positive side to it. Last week I mixed some gas for the saw and trimmer. I ran out of gas, but left the partial mix until later. Here's the dumb part. I forgot I only added one bottle of oil to the two gallon can! This is what happened......

Thankfully, this was not my Husky 570.

Sorry about the fuzzy pic.

How bad is the cylinder? If there's just some aluminum transfer from the piston, and it's not actually gouged you might be able to save it with a little elbow grease and some muratic acid.

I can think of at least 30 things I did when I was in college that were dumber than that! Accidents happen don't sweat it that sort of thing can happen to anyone. One of my coworkers put diesel fuel in his car one morning in a big rush and he didn't make it too far before she quit. At least he didn't ruin his engine but that can't be too good for it heeheehee. I find laughter helps when you do these things but sometimes it takes a while before you can share the story with someone and have a good chuckle. 9 times out of 10 they have an even better/more humourous story too!

We can all learn something from this thread...for instance, I now know how to finally get rid of the Wild thing and it's twin brothers the weed eaters. I've been tinkering with them all to keep them running to get by another year, I told my wife I'm tired of the junk, I'm buying a stihl trimmer next spring.... and replacing the wild thing.

That's the lesson here...when sumpin's gotta go, don't just do what I did and smash it in the driveway 18 or 19 times. That's a bad example in front of the neighbors.

When it came time to euthanize my Crapsman, what I shoulda done is either leaned it out or straight gassed it FIRST! That way I coulda grenaded it from the INSIDE!

Make no mistake, I still woulda smashed it in the driveway 18 or 19 times, screw the neighbors. But I feel like I missed an opportunity, and those don't come along every day.

Get that Stihl and smile every time you start it.

Had a friend do this with a Ford E350. Filled one of the dual tanks with the lowest priced fuel which turned out to be diesel. Ran it out by getting going down the highway on gas and switching over to the other tank for awhile. Was this a start-on-gas diesel engine like International made back in the 40s and 50s?:dizzy:

Pretty crazy. How well did it work?
