conveyor chain

Does anyone know how fast I can run a conveyor like this? That could make up some production. The V-design just looks really easy to build.

If you want a fast conveyor I have a 40"x19' belt conveyor for sale.It's a modular conveyor so if you wanted to ad some length you could have a section built. I'm replacing it with the chain so I can run in the winter. It didn't work well with slabwood due to the smooth sided nature of slabs with snow on them. We get 200"+ of snow a winter and the belt just doesn't work for me.In the spring, summer and fall it worked fine.I have never tried but it may work in the winter with split wood.
It will throw the wood out away from the end about 5-6'. Runs very fast.

hi I thought I would throe in my 2 cents worth the old timers used to use honey for better tracksion in the old days like in the flat belts on firewood buss saws try it you have nothing to lose but a little bit of honey it wont hurt the belt any

I am also building a firewood conveyor out of an old grain elevator that my father had. It has no. 55 detachable chain on it and and paddles for grain I plan on cutting the patels shorter because if a chunk gets hooked on the side it would ether brake the chain or come apart.Is no 55 detachable chain to light as I don't plan on loading it with a bob cat or loader of any kind how fast should the chain speed go is 150 per min to fast the elevator is 26 or so feet long. I plan on building a firewood processor as well and have most of the material for it 2 30 inch 5 inch rams of an old loader tractor and some heavy pieces of the loader for braceing some are 1 inch thick.I am going to build part of it now and use a winch to pull the logs or branches up a chute so I don't have to cut on the ground plus this will help a lot the ones to be slit I will split those in my wood spliter that right along side my processor until I get the spliter part done and mounted below where I cut the logs up any ideas would be helpful on the conveyor like how many feet per mn and so forth thanks a bunch have a nice day.......

I forgot to mention the conveyer part is about 8 inches wide and has single no 55 chain on it.....

I use a grain elevator for my firewood. The only thing I did to convert it to firewood use was to loosen the belt. I then set a heavy piece(limb) of wood leaning on the motor which tightens the belt to allow the wood to move. If I load the conveyor too heavy it slips on the belt, if a piece gets jammed it slips the belt. I just adjust the length of the log on the motor until it just doesn't slip. No fooling around or worrying about breaking chain. Been at least 6 or 7 years and no problems yet. Sometimes the simple solutions are the smart solutions.

I also have an old hay elevator. I put a Predator engine on it and left the belt a little loose. Works like a charm. I've had pieces jam up a couple times, belt just slips.

This thing works awesome! The engine runs just above idle and sips fuel.

you could use log chain......finding an old chainfall would provide you with the necessary sprockets.

I have a used hay conveyor now. It keeps breaking the chain. The chain is showing a lot of wear. I have looked for a lot of square chain but most if it is quite worn. I need something that is going to run for a long time. I'll have to check into the belt. People on here before said they don't like the belt because they slip in the winter and are a pain when they get wet. I know new chain isn't going to be cheap but I want to do it right.

I' getting ready to start building my conveyor. I need some input of what kind of chain I should use. I am going to build a simple setup with c-channel in the middle. It's going to run one chain. The conveyor is going to run off a hydraulic motor. It will be 28-30ft long. I have o be able to pile wood 14ft high. I have no idea what size and type of chain to use. I need some help with the chain and the sprockets.
