Now I'm starting to wonder if these ads are really that funny. I mean, maybe there is a market out there for people who enjoy harvesting their own firewood and figure they're getting a great deal if they don't have to pay for it, no matter what kinds of dangers they may be exposing themselves to. As for the $12G's tree, I find it very hard to believe that anyone would pay those kind of bucks for a tree that they have to cut down and haul off. It truly sounds insane. The problem here is that old adage: Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public. And, let's not forget: There's a sucker born every minute!

I'm sure her real estate agent told her that mature trees ad thousands of dollars of value to a property, so she probably is thinking she's cutting somebody a break by offering the sell the tree for so cheap.

but it smells so good..... thats the only reason my father burns it. He wont burn Osage Orange, refuses the stuff, the hottest wood to burn i believe, but he will burn all the pine you give him.

Burning pine... I was given a truckload of pine last year. It was not worth the space on the wood racks. We burned through the whole half cord of pine in about a week in the OWB. Poof! Lightweight, fast burning.

What would be interesting is if someone did decide to collect all this free wood and be willing to clean up all the mess for it. Then got hurt in process and sued the crap out of them.

I pointed that out to them in an email I sent. Also suggested they contact some sawmills in the area to get an idea of what that tree would be worth, opining that dropping a zero from that 12 grand would still be over the top.

I also thanked them for the laugh, and gave a link to this thread.

Oddly enough, I have not received a reply.

The ad is still up.
