Well, Today I've been in Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia and am in Virginia at present. Have scoped out a lot of different CL along my route. Not much interesting to me out there. The most exciting thing I've seen is a Stihl 044 for $300. Hint, it is still south of me. I have one old red Homelite saw in the car so far. It's not making fumes because it hasn't run for 7 years per the owner. (and we all know that means about 12 years)

Anyway, I saw some really optimistic ads like a PM700 for many hundreds of dollars, (I think 4 of them). Also have seen some ads for saws that were lightly used which is the reason they weren't asking much more than new price. I saw one old Poulan S72 with a bow for $130 that supposedly runs. (danville, cl) Go get it Johnny.

The best deal I saw was a Stihl 026 for $150. That one tempted me but I already have two of those and an 028 Super plus a Husky 55 that I haven't been able to sell. So I need another 50cc saw like a hole in the head. (I didn't even count my two Mac 10-10 saws)

Next stop Liberty University to have dinner with my daughter and then back to Georgia. Due to the tornado that visited my town Tuesday sounds like there may be some cutting to do... Maybe I'll finally get to try out that Jonsered 2172 with the 18" bar. I also have an untested Stihl 070 so need to find some big wood to see how it does. Has a 42" bar on it. That would be bad to find metal with though.

Nice saw safari! Not years, but decades since I have been on a long road trip...I know fuel was under a dollar then..

Im coming to KY to buy ALOT OF OLD saws!
watch out now boyz HA!

I was in the Harrisburg area but I searched all over the place. Let me see if I can find the link...

What? When were you there?

I've been watchin' CL for central Pa and not seeing much of interest. Prices are either too high, or just junk.

nice lookin' 044 for $350 Harpers Ferry, WV

can't find the 026 link. Probably been sold. Don't see many of those under about 225 or so.

I'm in Danville, VA now and still heading south. It's gonna be a short night of sleep.

It'll be the middle of the night when I arrive in the vicinity of the Stihl 044 so I am going to toss in the link. Stihl 044 Chainsaw

Have at it. Looks like a decent deal if it checks out good.

Well, have to check out since it's my turn to drive. Good Night.

Yea, I live near harrisburg and I'm convinced that all the saws are gone. I've been scouring the web like there's no tomorow. I've been on the search for a good bucking saw and it seems like a new saw maybe the way I'm gonna go. I've Even been watching the local papers for auctions and what not.

Made it back home to concord, GA about 05:00. Got a few hours sleep and then went patrolling around. Left a few cards but most of the cleanup has either been done or contracted for. I found one HUGE oak lying in a yard with the root ball extending about 12" or more in the air. Trunk probably 60" dbh. No one home at either house. I left a card in the door, see what happens...

I did a bit of work for a friend. Cut up a 16" hickory and brought the firewood home and left her the brush to burn. I cut it down to about 1.25" so not much brush left since there were no leaves.

I am always gone during major storms. What's with that?

Overall, I didn't see much damage other than trees so the tornado must have been a wimpy EF-2.

I have been seeing that Poulan with the bow bar on CL for a few weeks. I'm just outside Lynchburg.

Ive sold 5 saws on CL in the last two weeks. Everything I put up for sale has gone pretty quick lately. I guess I should have bought more saws over the winter... or I need to raise my prices.

Road trips are over for now. Next planned trip will be south to Lakeland, FL in April. I was in Sebring, FL two weeks ago and there wasn't anything interesting along that route. I was by myself so can't browse and drive at the same time but did a bit from the motel and before I left.

The last 029 I bought was $50 but it was stone dead. I put a big bore upgrade on it. $100 wouldn't be bad if it was really nice even if it needed engine work. Would have a great saw for $200 ish.

029's go for $200 to $300 here.
