A lot of damage in the Northwest part. Wish I didn't have all of next week booked up else I'd be taking a road trip. I may still take a ride end of the week. By the sounds of it some serious damage. Police are telling everyone to stay inside due to tree's down along with all the wires.

It was funny... I was working today on repairing a lightning protection system in a big oak on the water. As I was about halfway done I heard the thunder off in the distance. Got the tree finished and called it a day. Tomorrow is another day...

Wethersfield looks like a bomb went off.

light damage on the Glastonbury/E. Hartford line.i hear W. Hartford got hammered.

All the vultures are out beating on doors.we drove through Wethersfield just to see what happened.i handed out cards if people asked for them.i wasn't pushing my service.i figured they had been through enough and i'm behind enough with this weather.

Have you ever seen undead corn?!? Got couple feilds hit here with hail shreded the corn fields. Looks like a field of skeleton corn ready to march. Two tops of Chessnt tree, maple split down the middle. Storms got us working into the late hours. :bang:

I really should have swung through there, I need to put some money away for Disney. But I never really door knock much. My work generally comes from a closed source and I dont have to worry about it. But like everyone else its been slow this year for me. Could use the money from a few clean ups for some Park Hopper passes for the kids.

Oh well

Saw some poor person's house get split right down the middle by a tree. Hit on the load bearing wall; someplace in Whethersfield I think.

You out near Elmira, YTG? I hear Horseheads and the surrounding areas got hit pretty hard. Thinkin' 'bout takin' a cruise to see what's up.

i saw it today.

I saw on news a oak tree split a house in two in Wethersfield.

the road was blocked off last night.it's on Church St.

turn at the Timmy HOs and it's down on the left.there were a few others but not as extreme as that one.it's owned by two lesbians.they were in the kitchen cooking when it happened.the kitchen was the only place that wasn't smashed in the house.this is heresay from the neighbors of course.

Went out to Wethersfield yesterday

Good friend and co-worker of my wife had a 10 inch Black Birch that was partially up rooted and asked if I could clean it up for her. Took about an hour to get it unhung from a red oak, cut up and small amount of brush run through my little Simplicity chipper.

While doing this gratis job I had no less than 8 to 10 people in her neighborhood coming over and asking me to clean up their branches and trees. Told them I wasn't a pro or insured and was only doing this job because we knew the lady and she wouldn't sue me for everything over a few ruts in the yard. One guy had the nerve to ask if he could borrow my saw(s). When I politely told him no, he really got abusive. Reminded me how much I dislike the yuppies and wannabes in that area. Glad I live out here in the sticks.

Anyway, I hope you guys can make some decent money out there, but based upon what I've seen, be sure to ask for at least 1/2 the money up front and add in a large customer PIA factor in the price.

My 2 pennies.

More Ovid/ Geneva Area. Most the storm was south of us just a few micro burst here. The hail made everything look like a pile of leaves threw a chipper for about a mile wide. I'm going to stick an add in theshooper this week, maybe steal my uncles easy work he has been getting. He's been eating up my money jobs and I've been gettting his easy jobs. About to die my hair white..... Age has been my problem. Guy paid my uncle $250 extra than what I would of charged him just cause he has few more white hairs. I use to be the guy he would call when he was to scared to do the tree. :greenchainsaw:

Now I carry pictures of past work for Ive done for my self. Soon to add a locust hung into to maples over a cottage.

you should have called.

i'd have given you a hand.i could have also lent that guy my XL12.it hasn't run in years.:hmm3grin2orange:

i gave out two estimates and figured out what those people were all about.one guy wanted me to just cut an uprooted oak up and just flip the stump back in the hole.i just walked away laughing.

fc,

Wasn't a "big job", but many thanks for the offer.

As to the guy and the saw, well you'd have had to remove the chain too. Even if the saw wouldn't run he would have found a way to injure himself and sue you to boot.

Kind'a wonder if there's any Homelites or Poulans left down at Lowes or HD on the Berlin T'Pike.

Nothing over this way. Good thing too, I've got a big ash thats very important on one of the current jobs that needs cables and through rods before a big side lead rips apart any further - after that it can blow em all to pieces for all I care, lol. Gonna use a pulley in the main stem with a bowline out to the cracked side lead's tip, back down to the grcs to try and crank it together some. Big pita really.

I can vouch for west hartford and the surounding suberbs, there were lines down every where and the trees blocking the road i was trapped on new briten Av for about 2 hours trying to get home i took my saw out and started clearing a way for the cars there was another guy with a saw doing the same thing a little ways down the street.

But it was bad i drove by the other day and they still did not have power what a mess but it felt good
to give a helping hand, for those in need.
