ATV service shops have bins full of the sleeve type foam filters that slip over a metal mesh- they take them out by hour clock readings and replace them under warranty of the ATV at "X" intervals- cut to fit and hey presto.

Failing that, I have relined flocked filters that have lost their flocking with the sheet filter material that comes with vacuum cleaner bags.
Can you add a few specifics? Like the adhesive and procedure. The "sheet filter material" is something like HEPA vacuum bags? Maybe a vac model or bag part # as a helpful clue. I am thinking of Stihl 056 filters that have thin or no flocking left... And Thanks for this posting, it kind of primes the limited imagination.

Specifics? Not sure how it works over there, but over here you buy a bag of vacuum cleaner bags and there is also a sheet of white filter material to be cut to size and fit your machine in the filter directly behind the compartment for the bag. Use that to cut filters for your saw.
Procedures are cut to size- fit to air cleaner body and trim to fit.
Can be held in place, edges sealed with a hot glue gun if the filter body is not a click together type- guess you could use silicone rubber as well, as long as you do not smear too much over the filter material and restrict air flow.
Must be a thread on this somewhere- using Scotchbrite material instead of vacuum cleaner filter sheet.

I was being a bit hasty as well as lazy. As for vac bags I haven't bought one for years except tor the fein hepa vacs I have for work .. I will pay attention to the vac section the next time I am in the city. You introduced an idea into my mind (SCARY) and I'll work it out Thanks.

FYI, Scotch-Brite has very agressive abrasives, except for one color that have no abrasives. I think the light blue is just the nylon mesh.
