Damage to New England tachyon ash 11.5mm 60m would you retire it ?

Hi Chaps,
usually hang out on the chainsaw side, but have been doing a bit of climbing too.

Have a 60m length of New England Tachyon ash 11.5 with a bit of damage to it around the middle of the rope.

should I retire it, or is it still ok to climb on.

Rope manufacturers typically have guidelines of when to retire ropes.
I've retired ropes for less damage than that. Make two shorter ropes from it and get a new climbing line IMO. Then you wont be thinking about it. For me, peace of mind is worth more than a new rope.

I would say cut it a few inches from the damage so you have two shorts and get a new one. Looking at you close up pics it appears there are several strands completely severed. I say to cut it several inches from the damage so you can take the rope apart and inspect the core to see if it was damaged as well.

Depends on what you think your life is worth, lol. If there is no damage to the kern(inside) it might be OK, but I have pros inspect mine regularly, as well as washing them frequently since I tend to climb in the desert. My last one looked like that the whole length but no inside damage so after 25 hard falls retired as backup

yeah, it was retired back in april 2020.
