Can someone suggest a good depth gauge tool to indicate how much to remove tooth by tooth. Hand filing often results in cutters of different lengths, so I want to be able to check each gauge in relation to the corresponding cutter. By the way, I use Stihl RS, round grounf chain. I have been using a Carlton File-O-Plate which works well but seems to result in excessive raker clearances as the cutters are filed back. Thanks

Depth guage tool

you can find a nice depth guage at most husky shops .
They are a flat plate, that will adjust the depth guage at each tooth .They work great allso has a hard wood and soft wood setting .I have used them for ten years now havent found anything better. you have to buy them by chain pitch.
