I have a Gravely 944 disk chipper. The bearings have to much play on the disk, it's to the point where I can wiggle the disk 1/16 to about 1/8th" of play side to side.

I have settled on fixing it myself, since it seems simple enough. I have already ordered the in feed side. That took some work since the manufacturer painted over the ID tag on the bearing. However I am stuck on the engine side. The ID tag is missing! I would assume it's the same, but looking at the parts diagram it has a different part # with Gravely, and a slightly different description. The rear or in feed side is simply labeled as "Flange Bearing" while the engine side is labeled "Expandable 2" Flange."

Does anyone here have this chipper, or a Gravely 395? Would you be willing to look at the ID tag, and let me know the correct manufacture part #?

Thanks in advance!

If you can get it off in one piece take it to a bearing/hydraulic shop and get them to size it and order you one.
Its likely to be cheaper that way.

Yes I know I can do that, but that is plan C. I live on a island so there isn't exactly a bearing ship around the corner, or the other side of town. I just thought it would be pretty sweet if some one out there has the same machine, and could simply look then let me know the #.. I THINK I have the right idea of what it is, and size. If I can order one over the phone from a bearing shop it would save me a day or two of ferries and run around.
