Am I the only one who seems obsessed with getting the wood cut, hauled, split, stacked and sold? For me I like to use a saw, get outdoors, Tell ya the truth I like everything about it. I dont like hauling it to much. Seems like I always need to cut more. I dont even have a fireplace. That meens I sell it. I like the customers. Heck last year a lady gave me $100 for about 30 sticks of wood. Call me crazy I think I am addicted to work.

I know exactly how you feel. I don't burn wood right now either except at camp which is only a few truck loads a year but I love to cut and split wood! I am always helping friends of mine cut wood to heat their homes or cutting some wood to sell. Sometimes I think I am just plain crazy, but there is something I love about doing it!

I cut about 30 cords this last Jan, Feb. Four cords went to a guy that helped.
There is alot of guys from PA on here. How much will a cord sell for in your neck of the woods? I have seen it in dallas for $300 not delivered! I dont live there though. I sell it for about $185 plus Delivery.

Around $130 delivered; for hardwoods.

Wow, if I think about it real hard I can remember delivering & stacking a cord of oak in Dallas for $75.00. But that was a few day's ago.;)

I help all my friends cut wood and cut my own wood every winter. I hate this time of year because Im itching bad to get into the timber to cut, but its still a little too warm here to do it all day. Working up wood is a great hobby.

Some days I will drive around looking for land developement where the trees are being dozed. I always get permission though. One time the dozer operator loaded 16' logs on my trailer. The dozer was a D-9. One slip on the clutch and the old truck and trailer would have been toast.

Still cheap here, hardwood facecord= 8ft x 16" x 4 ft tall goes for $55, $65 delivered.

Sounds like you enjoy what you do! Smart man.:) I agree, I like everythings about it. My boy's and I cut, split and deliver about 5 cords a year to the elderly at our church for winter use. They enjoy the free firewood and we enjoy their smiles. Everybody wins.

You ain't the only one

I work with a guy who would be best called "obsessive, compulsive" when it comes to wood. Some people never learn. :buttkick:

If I can cut 1 cord a week, then I will have cut a bunch in a year (for me).

I like running a good saw. I like loading a truck heavy. I like watching a splitter cram it's way thru a knot. I like delivering a load of wood. I like getting paid for it. I like the big smile I see when I arrive with a load!

You've got a lot of fellow woodnuts here who feel the same way. Now you gotta get a stove and burn some of it yourself and really get hooked on it! :)

I have serious obsession issues with firewood myself, I only need at max 4 cords but I always scrounge up ~6.
If I had the time I would collect 100.

I drift off to sleep each night thinking about how and where to make my next firewood stack out in the yard.

last night while enjoying a moosehead beer on the patio I grabbed a split of red oak and held it up to my nose and took a few good long whiffs, I am screwed:hmm3grin2orange:

THIS IS GREAT!!!!! THE FIRST TIME MY OLDEST SON HELPED ME SPLIT WOOD IT WAS SOME LIVE OAK. BEING A BBQ LOVER HE SAID "MMMMMM" I SMELL BBQ, I SAID "SMELL THIS!" HOLDING THE WOOD UP TO OUR NOSES HE SAID "IS THAT WHAT BBQ COMES FROM?"
THIS THREAD GIVES ME HOPE THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH ME.

Love Firewood

Not only the smell of freshly cut and split hardwoods, but the sight of neatly stacked rows of drying wood, with the criss-crossed ends to keep them that way. Nothing like job satisfaction:) .

I got a outdoor fireplace. Does that count?

I say yes! Last 4th of July we had friends over for a barbecue swimming and fireworks. While waiting for it to get dark we built a fire in our fire pit and sat around BSin. I thought it was great!
