do new sealed gas cans keep regular pump gas mix longer

Fuel stations rotate their fuel constantly; a truck stop may get a fuel delivery every day. You could store gasoline in an open top container, and it'd be fine if the gasoline was replaced daily too.
Well I live in a bit of a rural area so replenishment is not like a truck stop. Yes there are major stations of course 30-40 miles away but we also have stations that have fuel in 500 gallon above ground steel tanks with concrete containment. Not all rural stations are truck stops. I will not argue the fact that plastic cans are not perfect. I will argue a sweeping generalization is not appropriate.

I believe you will find that if you fuel up from a modern station their underground tanks are indeed plastic. Of course being underground changes a bit. It does remove the sunlight issue but does not removed the perceived oxygen issue.
I used to pump gas when I was a kid in NJ (self-serve was illegal there). One station I worked at sold 6000 gal/day of regular. Stuff moved through those tanks pretty fast.

I believe those tanks were FRP...polyester resin (like boats)...not sure what they use nowadays, but I doubt it's polyethylene like fuel cans.

6000 gallons a day............Not here...... That is almost a tank truck a day and multiply that by grades and diesel..............WOW

Thanks for the links.

That's actually a good price, but they're knockoff Chinese fuel cans. Just seeing the center seam is sticking out, instead of recessed into the tank, would be an automatic fail for me.

I'd rather go with something more along these lines. Old and dusty on the outside, but legit genuine NATO cans.

This is the only worthwhile currently made equivalent:

Don't buy cans from that first ebay link. I made the mistake of buying 8 cans from them. Half showed up with the sides caved in, of the 4 that looked ok, one you can't get the lid open, the lip of the lid was bent around the lip of the spout, the other 3 had rusty interiors. I ended up having to start an ebay case against them to return the 4 junk cans, amd was partially refunded for the can with the bad lid. Till I have them properly cleaned amd get red kote to reline them I could have bought new wavian cans and not had the hassle. I'll also say, for whatever reason my negative review on ebay was never posted, nor could I leave feedback. I was very disappointed.

My stash, plus a couple others in the shop. All genuine 1950's NATO cans.

You got more stored then I do currently. I still haven't bothered to do anything with those surplus cans I got. Just mad thinking about it.
How do you make them for rotation?

Seriously blows that they pulled BS, definitely thank you for saving me some trouble.

I don't keep track of rotation down to the day or anything, just make a mental note to burn it in the car every year. Dump it in the car, add a double dose of Stabil to the can, go pump a couple gallons of non ethanol premium into the car, then fill the cans, and back in the shed.

I have a boat tank for the generator, this conversation reminds me I need to rotate that fuel too.

I have spells where I go through fuel like crazy, then not so much. The not so much I end up forgetting when I filled which can, and use it up in the truck till I know I've filled all the cans again. I also switched from stabil to pri-g/d. And would like to let a can sit for a year (gas) and send a sample out to have it tested. Per ounce pri-g/d is way cheaper then most other stabilizers. So this thought just keeps popping up in my head.

PRI-G is the sh** . It will make ethanol free last indefinitely.

Supposedly the new cans are sealed.
Ex: No spill gas cans.

No air in or out. So pump gas with a stabilizer should last for a while.

If you keep it in a temp stable environment. Like in a barn on the shaded side at ground level.

Using premium from CITGO or Sunoco, and Husqvarna oil, I have yet to experience any issues with carbs on my stuff. Lawn equip't comes in for the Winter, and the Snow Thrower comes out. Everything always starts normally...so I can attest to 6 months of shelf life, on my mixed fuel.

I'm kinda the opposite, I barely use any gasoline at all outside of vehicles. I'm storing gasoline for the generator, because when we need it, we freaking need it. It has to work.

Store regular pump gas in a AIR TIGHT, METAL container, and it will last over 1 year, if not longer. I've done it with a 55 gallon drum. E0 in a barrel or metal can will last over 3 - no additives required with either fuel. Just keep air out of it, and it'll last far longer than it should.
