Does this sound like a fair deal

Your fuel cost are not the same as your hauler, but they have gone up too, so I can't see why you should eat the $10. At the same time fuel has gone up a ridiculous amount in some parts of the world. $10 bucks a cord sounds kind of arbitrary. I would suggest that you figure out the % of increase in fuel cost since you made this deal. Everywhere I go I am paying more for goods and services on account of fuel so think about calling the BBQ and talk to them about the increased cost of hauling. Go to the hauler and talk to him about an increase that reflects the % increase. If you don't have a contract with the BBQ, get one and think about how much fuel is going to continue to rise. You know that you have this other hauler in your back pocket, so if you can't make a deal with the original hauler and the BBQ, just take your business to the other guy but make sure you have a solid deal with him or you may end up in the same boat later. Remember that in the end, the restaurant will just raise their prices to cover costs. That's my 2cents.

Not that it matters, but how many cord does he haul at a time. If it's just one or two, then he's not getting rich.

Right on. Now its all about saving money which means saving fuel. You have to maximize how much wood is hauled each trip. I'd be loading that truck to the gills.

Red Oak offer

Seems to me your basically selling your red oak for $210 a cord after paying your driver. I'll pay that and I'll pick the wood up as well. How many cords you got to sell? 805-714-3226 Mike
