Perfect, Dolmar needs more dealers like you guys.

I never have complained about my local one, but today he was puzzled why i could give him part numbers and he didnt have a clue where they were at. I even told him what you said about the new black carb cover and that it was a summer 2007 listing, that was still no help. Thanks for picking up the ball and running with it.:D

Tried my local Dolmar dealer 12 miles away, that is usually good to go on the smaller stuff . Guess what, I gave him 2 out of 3 of the part numbers and he still said he don't show them in his book. Go figure Dolmar dropping the ball.
Now I see why everyone swears off Dolmars. Just a good thing I don't need a part to keep it running and it is just a cosmetic thing. :hmm3grin2orange:
Starting to wonder why I love the powerhouse of a saw 7900 with poor backing too! :biggrinbounce2:

Thanks for the part number for the black cylinder cover, but I dont think I can get it local now. Going to try calling another up north about a hour away and then I will say &%$# on it  .

All the old part numbers will supercede to these part numbers.

038 118 221 AF Cover (New Style)

The IDN (Dolmar / B&S) parts system works great. We just have to teach the dealers how to use it. For example if your dealer orders a part and the local warehouse does not have it in stock they can check another warehouse for stock and have the part delivered to the dealers door. But the dealer will have to Request this service.

The only other power equipment lines that we deal through a distributor through are Exmark, Redmax, & Wright. I have a landscaper that broke a tube & shaft on a 2 month old redmax trimmer and it has been 2 weeks waiting for the trimmer tube and it probably be next week before I see it. I had a customer with a exmark unit only a few months old that blew a belt and tore the main wiring harness in two. It only took 3 weeks to get all the parts in and that was on a $10,000 mower!

I'll send the parts out to you tomorrow and you should have them on friday. Tell your dealer to get setup with the online ordering system and they will always know the newest part numbers and stock.

Then I would like to order the 2 parts above if I can, just pm me with info.

The price on the new style hood is $10.00 + shipping. But i'll hold the other price to those who emailed & PM'd already.

Steve and Scott you guys are incredible. Parts arrived, installed and the new updated carb cover is the cats azz. Not one large chip wedged itself in the underneath pleats of the air filter after some testing, like in the past old carb cover would let through. Somebody was on the money with the new design. Thanks so much and wish every Dolmar dealer was like yours.

Got to go get some scratches on them darn new black shiny covers after looking at the pic. Cant have any of those clean scratch-less saws in this house, I forbid it.
The show and no go clean saws remind me of the trailer queen show cars. ;) :jester: :hmm3grin2orange:

But I got to love that cuda Tom uses for clean up before working on the saws. Well worth the money to pay to have that done, wish there was one local to use.

Just seeing the air filter after short use in some rip cuts, I dont see where this new carb cover could do any wrong. It's like having a pre-filter before the air filter. A+

Update - Richard's 7900 is now my 7900, because I have a saw addiction and really needed a second 7900. :dizzy:

If anyone has a set of new or used red covers, let me know. If you've been thinking about upgrading to the new style air filter cover, now might be the perfect time...

I know where there is a brand new red set.;) You work out the deal and I will pick them up when I am out that way and mail them out for you, later.

Just tell them to put a black set on the puppy or tell them if his new tech cant figure out how to do the change, I will switch them for them.

Computeruser...now that is just downright not fair...I'm still in search of my first 7900.
Sure ya need 2 of them????

Yeah, I need two of 'em about as much as I needed the first one. But since when does *need* have anything to do with it? :)

Because of your location the thought that it was you briefly crossed my mind, but I dismissed it. Why would computeruser need a second 7900? Maybe his was lonely?

Computeruser--I'll let him give his Ebay name if he wants--has a sterling reputation on Ebay at 100%. Trading partners gush how they love dealing with him, and I have to agree.

Even though I liked the way that 7900 cut, I decided it was time for this old lumberjack to go to a smaller saw. Have arthritis in my wrists, and they have been kicking up. Best of luck on that saw.

Thanks for the kind words and for the saw!!!

I saw it up there on eBay and knew that it needed a good home. I do a lot of cutting with a buddy of mine with a 6401, and it has been nice to have parts and bars interchangeable between our saws; we also run 3400/3000 Echos. I figured there'd be no harm in having a second 7900 for my own benefit, too.

It's going to be a work saw and firewood saw, so I decided against getting this one ported, but I am letting the same AS member who did such a nice job on my other 7900 muffler have at this one, too. That way, if I can score some red covers, I'll have a matched pair! I still have a nice set of like-new, take-off red covers, but I'm saving them for the future. As soon as I convince our local saw shop to start carrying Dolmar, too, I'm going to grab a couple more 7900s to stash away before they're EPA'd out of existence; yup, I like these saws that much.

+ 2

Parts arrived and tested. Updated carb cover is well worth the $$$.

Thanks,

I didn't really care for the fuel and oil caps on my 7300 bought some new husky caps with the green o-ring seem to fit pretty nice! Any one else done this to their 73 or 7900?

I used to really dislike the way the caps stuck on my 7900s, but at someone's suggestion I started using a scrench to loosen them and now I don't think about it anymore. So far no leaks, and that is the main thing I like about a cap.

I like my 7900s more all the time (if that is possible) and at some point will buy a couple more to salt away.

I'll have to look at my new 7900 I just bought when I get home, but if my memory serves me correctly, I think mine has the older red covers. If so, older inventory saw? Has anything else changed on these other than the these covers?

The cover colour means nothing.
The old style top cover just had a few holes drilled in it between the inner and outer chamber, the new style cover has a full width nylon mesh screen.
There's been pics posted of the new style pre-filter in the last couple of weeks, I'll dig one or two up.
