MS261 C-M production date 1/22 came in as a no start. Long story short someone ran it on used motor oil and gasoline, smoked the top end.

Saw belongs to a customer, I know better. Wherever my saws go I go no exceptions. Sadly I see this kind of thing quite often.Bologna of the highest order. Hope they make right with you on it. Can't imagine running used drain oil as two stroke mix, that's one I haven't heard of. In a case of legitimate emergency and that's all I had on hand, I'd give it a shot.
These are the loaner saws I keep on hand:

Remember, when you tell someone you don't loan out your saws, them getting pissy about it is confirming that you made the right choice. Anyone truly competent to run a saw will have their own saw, or at least understand and accept why you don't loan yours out.
Don’t be stirring the pot man…Is this an oil thread?
What was it mixed at.......?
Yeah I’m not happy about it either, and it’s not even my saw.Hard to believe that a borrowed Stihl MS 261C would ever be treated this way. I have to wonder if the borrower decided to kick the owner's butt. Rather sad in my book.

I have to protest that an SXL is too good a saw to lend out haha....Have an old Poulan wild thingy or super XL for loaners.
I hardly have any friends with enough brains or balls to even use a gas saw anymore.I'm 60 years old and bought my first saw in 1986. So far I have never loaned a saw out. My son in law has a small stihl and he has asked to borrow a bigger saw with a 20" bar to cut up some trees they had taken down in their yard. I really don't want to but I hate to tell him no. I'm going to let him borrow the Husqvarna 365 clone that I built from a parts kit. It runs really good and I hope it comes back in the same condition. I'm going to send my fuel mix with it.
Loaned out my first wife and my truck to a friend to help him get moved. They both came back with a rod thrown in them.Learned long ago not to lone out tools, seems they always come back damaged or never come back at all.
