I have an old Ryobi miter saw, 10" blade, garage sale special, that I have used for years to knock off the inch or two that allows the wood to fit into my stove. It has a rough cut framing blade with carbide teeth, and can probably cut a six inch wide/deep chunk of wood. Be sure to hold the wood firmly, because it may twist some , but I have never had a scary experience.

It look a lot like DR saw.
