The first is of Chad Vogel he is out on the east coast in Virginia ! The second is John Plowden up in main at the MOFGA horse logging conference there in Main! The Thrid is of a skid trail on one of our jobs after 6 mo of logging! The forth is of one off our companions in Britain logging in Sherwood forest ! hope you like them

I used to log with a single mule. Now I sit in a forwarder pulling levers and getting fat. I still miss those big beautiful ears.

I would like to ask for permission to use your pictures in my articles. It would include full credit to you as the owner of the pictures. I would also include credit to those who are shown in the photos. I am also looking for horse loggers who would like to be profiled on the site. Please contact me at [email protected]

Several years ago we logged a small patch with draft horses and we got 43,000 bdft off of the hill in 4 days, but it was ridge timber that all had to go down hill. That was pretty good going for even a skidder, LOL. We had good horses, two teams.

It was different,

Sam

Thanks logging 22 and slamm you can also log up hill by using block and tackle with high test rope what you do is twitch [ or drag the log ] side hill to a trail then place your block on top of the hill to a large tree with webbing so as not too harm the tree then you send the horses down hill and the logs go up ! Works real well!

Thanks for the pics. There is an Amish man around here that uses horses. He and I kid each other about who pulls more. His 2 horses or my 'ol John Deere A. I love to watch his horses pull. I go to all the horse pulls I can at the local fairs. I can't belive how much weight those horses pull.
