Eastern Red Cedar issues

We've got some Red Cedars on the farm & the branches are dying. The smaller ones (4-6'ers) seem to displaying more dead branch tips than the larger Cedars. Located in VA & we've had a cooler / wetter spring than normal if that makes a difference. Here's a pic of one of the smaller ones, any ideas?

Look at the inner parts of those branches. Any sign of feeding insects: missing bark, tiny holes?

Are there swollen parts of the stems (indicative of cankers).
