Saw an Echo 4400 at the Home Depot tonite, about 329.00. Is this a good deal or should I get a Husky or Stihl regardless? Huskies are popping up everywhere, Northern Tool, Lowes, etc. is this still a professional-type saw or a deparment store special? Looking to spend around 300-400.00. I cut an equal amount of firewood and charity-type tree removal, sometimes trees larger than I expected. Thanks, Clem.

Checkout Ebay if you're interested in Echo, the 4400 has gone for as low as $170 and you could get the 510 for $245 buy it now

I find the Echo's are slighly lower in quality than Husky or Stihl, but it should suit you well and last for years if properly taken care of, and it beats a Mac-Junk anyday.

Just bought an Echo 670 this past spring for $395 and I REALLY like it. I'm a carpenter not a chainsaw pro like most of the guys on this site, but I think Echo is a well built saw. Now days every saw is built with plastic. However, the 670 seems to have metal where metal should be and plastic where plastic will work.

I just scored a Echo CS-510 on eBay for $181 plus shipping. Supposed to be brand new in "sealed box" but without bar & chain.

I hope you guys are right and that Echos are decent saws. I couldn't resist such a bargain as this seems at least $100 less than anywhere else even after I buy a bar & chain.

So now I'll have the following to fill my cutting needs:

Stihl 024
Jonsered 2050
Echo 510
Solo 690
(plus a couple of Homelites)
