Do double yolk eggs ever hatch out as twin chicks?

I would imagine not but don't know.
The vast majority of eggs are not fertilized so the answer is no. Is it possible? Maybe but with that being said an egg is a confined space unlike a womb so the possibility is near zero but guess it could have happened.

It should go with saying that my question is concerning fertilized eggs.

So you don't know.

Bless your heart.

Thanks.

Well no hatchery would keep a double yoke egg so once again the answer would be no. They are not in the business of losing money with deformed chicks. The deformed chicks are tossed in the grinder. I guess you have not hatched many chicks.

My hens have always hatched their own chicks and raised them, so I haven't had to get involved.

My question still is:

Well since you are a liberal you will love this video of how real life works. I will not voice an opinion one way or the other on the content

Billy my link says that is does happen but it is rare.

I buried dead chicks in my compost pile with no need for a grinder.

You would do well to not carry a grudge into every thread you enter into.

Dilbert,

You asked a question I answered it. You did not like my answer. I hold no grudges against you for that though.

I have a hummingbird egg here from a number of years ago and 3 years ago I found out that someone I knew raised ostriches. So I now have that egg too. I had to use a 3/16" bit and a drill to make a hole in the shell to get the contents out. Smaller 1/16" hole on top.
I have a friend and neighbor that was sheep man all his life. About 30 years ago he thought he was going to get rich with Ostrich and Emu's. Well as we all know that market tanked He is a great man and switched to goats and with our Hispanic population loving goat meat he is doing well.

I’ve had 3-5 double yolk out of these hens. This egg was just exceptional in size. To the point I wondered if it was a triple. Not sure if that’s even a possibility but I’ll know for sure soon. Took it directly to fridge for science lol

As far as could one hatch my guess is no. Just a guess but I think the developing chicks would smother / misshape one another.

I think that two can hatch but not very often.
