In addition to a new engine, I treated my DHT 25 ton splitter to a new hydraulic fluid filter. Seems like the new one has a very slow leak near the top where it attaches to the fitting but is also covered by a flimsy, rubber cover. I'm wondering if that rubber thingy is preventing a tight seal. Anyone do away with it and just plain eliminate it or come up with another dust cover or barrier? If I remove it (and presumably the filter), will the gasket or O ring on the filter prevent a tight seal after being tightened previously? It's always something…
