You said you had some smaller saws for small branches. What size are these saws and how much experience do you you have using them. Like someone said before, a 372 is not the saw you want to deal with if there is a large learning curve involved. If you are limited in experience stick with a 50cc (IMO). If you are comfortable running a saw disregard this post. I'm not trying to be critical or judge your ability in anyway......just be safe.

So true ! ;)

Oh, btw the 372's are great saws. I switched my crew over to them a year ago and except for one fluke I've had no trouble out of them. Now I still had a couple of stihls (440, 460, 066G) but have since sold all three of them. I had one guy that prefered the stihl over the husky but differant strokes for differant folks! Just pick a quality saw and you won't go wrong.

One last thing, for what you are doing a husky 357xp or a sthil 361 would have more than enough power for what you are wanting to do. I'd run a 20'' bar on either of them and not think twice about it.

I have a bit of "backyard" experience. I have an understanding of the dynamics of the operation and use of a saw. While everyone starts out small, you can't grow without experience. By no means am I attempting to become a backwoods logger or woodsman. Selecting equiptment is not an easy task. Too much or too little can lead to disaster. If you forget the power of the saw, it can kill you or a friend.

You are so right. My smaller saw is 30cc+, not sure right now. It has an 18" bar. Figured trying to use one saw to do it all is not smart.

I will also put my recomendation in for the Stihl MS361. I jst got mine and really like it. If you are looking at Husky's, have you looked at Baileys website. Real good prices also Generator Superstore if you are looking online. On My Stihl I was able to find a new one at a local dealer for cheaper than they were selling on Ebay. Having a good dealer local is also a big plus. Good luck.

You don't say where in TN you live, but if you are anywhere near Jackson,TN take a look at what's available at Bailey's, 196 Edwards Drive, Jackson,TN. (731) 422-1300. If you want to know what they have, click on the little Bailey's sign on the top of this page and look at their on line catalog. It may not be "in your budget" but the best combination for what you want to do is a Husky 346XP and a Dolmar 7900 right out of the box.

Thanks for all the replys. I chose the PS 7300 and got a great price from a site sponsor.

Congratulations! :)
Let us know what you think whwn you have used it for a while.

Remember, if everything else fails, read the owners manual. :blob2: :blob2:

When I first found this site I had a Stihl 029. With the help of Stihlman036
I modded the muffler which made some gains. Since then I have replaced that saw with a Husky 357xp and really like that saw.I do a lot of homeowner firewood cutting. The 357xp is reasonably light and makes good power. New or a good used one may do you well for what you need.
