Instead of an inner tube, a piece of a thick balloon would work the same way on the intake side and not seal up leaks on carb side.
Na that won’t work, you’ll have leaks through the shafts.
Sure whatever works for you. The take away is using something hard and flat that won’t take up the clearance.
Interesting - that the inner tube could seal off very minor leaks. Also, inner tube material is soft and will flex with pressure or vacuum, maybe taking longer to reach test pressure. I use a thicker (3/16"), firmer piece of rubber that is not likely to do that. A solid adaptor as shown should not be that difficult to duplicate.
Yeah it can seal off larger ones too. Same with that firmer rubber, lots of people use the orange stuff in the USA and it’s just as bad.
How so? It should work same as an inner tube to seal the venturi but much thinner.
Sorry mate you’ve totally lost me with “balloon” and “carb side” and “not seal on intake side” I have no idea what any of that means. Ultimately if it works for you, that’s all that matters

Stihl offers 3? different versions of that block off..last one I purchased in store was under 20 bucks...dealers sell them to you if you hand them the part number. I need to know the id of the fuel hose used with the mighty vac to order more...would like to say it was 1/4" id
Just sharing some advise covering something I have been tripped up on before.

The Harbor Freight Mity Vac clone is 1/2 the price of the original and has a better construction, the cylinder is machined brass, not die cast.... FYI.
The latest version of this tool is 5910-850-4207. I got one from my local Stihl dealer this spring for $24.91 plus tax.
It was on back order for quite a while. Some dealers will not sell special tools to the public. Some mark up their parts well above list price.
I have also fabricated block off plates for other engines I have worked on. It all depends on how much effort you want to put into this. YMMV.
