The trees we took down were for chip board. We got paid well and and those tall trees werent really helping the deer much.. the new growth however really gives them allot of to chew on.

Some guys just take their trees a little to seriously and they need a little agravation to come back to the real world.

I sure felt bad about cutting that beautiful tree down . i cryed all the way to the bank.. dont get mad and dont be to serious about trees . There are much bigger problems in the world to think about.

you know what is great about the internet you can talk and you dont have to dodge real punches.

i knew one guy who refered to it as a blade.." yeah those rakers are totaly useless on that BLADE, so i just file them down so it actually cuts" yeah i think ill be using my own saw on this one...

I agree, but I've found that just thinking about them doesn't help, and most of those big problems I can't do much about. That's why I stick to trying to better the world as much as I can in the realms that I move in... and that includes preserving as many trees as possible.

A great reason to leave them. Deer are a scourge upon the land, their numbers like locusts.

Arborists by definition take trees seriously. Loggers take them down and to the bank. Look at the name of this forum. Every tree must come down someday true; arborists do not hasten but delay that day. Logging can be honorable and part of wise land use, but it can also be a rape of Creation if done for a quick buck and chip mills and deer.

In Genesis mankind is given "dominion" over the Earth. Dominion is stewardship, its purpose to sustain Creation not destroy it. Some however take dominion to mean control and use for short-term gain, ignoring the desecration they do to Creation and the wretched mess they leave for others to live in. :(

: I'm less PC than thee, brother; those who prattle about semantics instead of dealing with ideas are in PC mode and add nothing. Something that cuts can be called a blade. And a virtual punch can sting more than the real thing, can't it?;)

I wound up going over to see the guy today to give him a price for the work. He told me that he had found somebody to do the work, no biggie. I asked how much he was paying and he told me that the guy agreed to do it for $1,000.00 He showed me the business card for the company doing the work, and I knew who it was. Oddly enough this guy won the Woodchuck a couple years ago at TCI. I was thinking more along the lines of $2,000 just to get them down... but hey, what do I know
