Ever seen a left handed saw?

All, or at least all saws are easily converted to left handed!

It is called a full wrap handle!!! LOL

This coming from a lefty (ME).

Yes, but that presents a safety issue because it tends to put the cut directly in front of the operator's stance instead of off to the side, so if there's a kickback it's coming straight at your face instead of hopefully past your ear.

The old left-hand saw I ran across was definitely NOT one of those pictured above. It was nowhere near that old, and was more of a flat, boxy design, I'm sure with a horizontal cylinder. I have a picture of it still in my mind but it could take days sorting through CSCC etc. to find a picture that matches.

EDIT: Well, sometimes things just work out quickly. I clicked on the "Thrifty Mac" near the top of the Mac list at Acres', and up comes a drawing of what looked like a leftie saw. After a quick search here on AS, I discovered a thread where one sold on eBay back in January. The posting is still up for the time being here:

It'll likely be gone soon since I think eBay only keeps pages for 90 days after the auction end. I saved the pictures for future reference though.

I'm not 100% sure that's the model I saw, but it looked much more like that than any others posted here. It had a much longer bar though; probably 24" if my memory is accurate.

Further digging has revealed the even older Mac D-33 "Le Sabre":

It's the precursor to the "Thrifty Mac" above, apparently. That one with the black trim is starting to look more like the picture in my mind. Still doesn't seem as square-ish as the one I remember, but who knows.

I didn't think about it but I can see how a left mounted bar would put the chain more inline with a right handed operator in the event of a kick back

Seeing as how running a saw is a "learned" skill I guess manufactures just
figured to make saws for the more common (right handed) person and the lefties would just learn to deal with it.

Sorry lefties, if using right handed tools is as awkard to you as a left handed pair of scissors is to me I feel for you.
