Crane jobs and smokes go hand in hand.
A little crane is better than no crane. I have a friend here who has a 12 ton with 75' of stick I believe. Can't remember, I haven't worked with him in awhile. Here in OK you can do a lot with that little crane. Trees are not generally very tall here. 65' is about average I'd say. And they get smaller the closer you get to Texas. The little truck cranes are real handy for lifting trees off of houses. Very rarely do I need one here. When I have to pick something over a house I rent a 64 ton with 150' of boom. We can usually pick from the street with it.
That being said, I'd be thrilled to death with a 12 ton truck crane.
Nice job. What are the specs on your crane? I had been under the impression that picking over the front without a 5th outrigger was next to impossible but you seemed to be taking some nice sized pieces. Any "pucker" moments?
smaller cranes the front stabilizer isn't as important ON LEVEL GROUND my truck doesn't have a front stabilizer and i have picked up 20k at around 15-20 feet off the front.
nice job super rep sent.
I don't like swinging 5k over the front with our 31t, and thats with front stab. 1 part line, our high speed won't lift over 6k, low speed quits after 9600. How many parts of line were you running to get 20k off the ground?
Super, nice job getting that off the house. Some of the most challenging jobs i've done have been pulling trees off homes and power lines. Power company could care less, they just give you the next pole number. Homeowners usually bring us coffee, cake, its generally a rewarding experiance helping people like that.
I love it super j, rockin an 80's skateboard helmet, with no eye pro or ear and a smoke, get er dun. Nice job, it was only a few months ago when you came on here and was askin how to run that crane. Plenty of guys were givin ya **** and you kept yer cool the whole time. Looks like you got it figured out. Good thing you moved out east though, that crane wouldn't get ya up to the first limb of a doug fir out here.
where do you think I learned how to climb brotha?
what is the capacity chart of your machine with the booms retracted as in this picture. load radius looks to be around 16 feet or so. thanks, tom.
right under 15k over 60" across at the bottom 15-16 foot long picked them both out from behind the power lines from where it was sitting i had a little over 30 foot of boom out for the second one in the picture but the truck is above grade and so i had a little advantage on not needed to much boom it weighed in pretty heavy also was close to 25 foot. probably was15-18k
im 6 foot tall in the picture and am close enough to it to touch it with my hand.

none i was picking all the way in its a knuckle boom lifted it with the hydraulics. 31t and a 15t is a lot of weight in the boom alone added. i would guess more than double. 31t requires a heavy tandem or 3 axel setup.
i would hope a 31t had 100 foot or more of boom also he's right around 60 i do believe. thats a whole bother section of boom.
My bad, I hear crane, even knowing you run the k-boom, i automatically think wire rope.

thiers a one part line on it two part makes it the winch pretty powerful. at max exstension the winch will pull 2500 with a one part line the closer you come in the computer allows the winch to pull more.
