So what’s your (2 saw only) chainsaw pick? Specifically for: felling, and bucking trees up to 3’(mostly 2’) in diameter. Usage would not be heavy, say 4 trees per month. Looking also to cut the stump off at ground level so you could be faced with 4’ plus in diameter.

saws?

For me 440 & 660, or 440 & 385!:greenchainsaw: :hmm3grin2orange: :biggrinbounce2: :chainsawguy:

Based on my saws, I'd have to say for a bigger tree 066 and 357
For a little smaller, the 7900 and the 346.

I only use the 260 for trail clearing and brush piles, but its darn reliable.

Heck, I like all my saws, but those are some pretty solid combos.
:blob2:

I have to add, I notice that you mention trees up to 3' in diameter.
I would think that a 7900 has to be in the mix somewhere... light for exceptional power.

I figured the 066 or 7900 would enter in to a lot of 2 saw favorites. The 395 would be a good place to start from too. The possibilities are endless.:rockn:

For that sized tree ,most likely of my saws an Sp 81 Mac or Stihl 048 for a faller and and a Mac 125 for a bucker.Three foot tree ,that is.Two footer ,the afore mentioned saws.

I'm not sure how I would answer if someone handed me $1,500.00 and said; "Pick your two saws!"

The "two saw combo" I am currenty running is a 441 (24" bar) and 026 (18" bar). Maybe not optimal for some, but it sure gets the job done for me.

Still working on that same question myself:spam:

Maybe thats the fun in life, always messin' with saws and finding ones you like... then ones you like better

I know the feeling!
I like the 3120 346 combo but I think I could narrow that down a bit. If my 575 had a half wrap handle that would make it into my 2 saw favorite to a 575 and 346.

I agree with WV, 361 and 260 Pro will take care of that requirement with power left over. No need for 'overkill' on such small trees. :buttkick:

I donno about that.... around here, mostly hardwoods, a 3 foot diameter tree is easily 40 or 50 feet high, and trust me, a 660 or a 7900 is not overkill in the least!! I assume Iowa is similar.
What kind of trees are you cutting in Texas that are over 4 feet and suitable for a 260???

My 044 for the whole job... I only use one saw to do the entire tree. Size of the tree (dbh) depends of the size of the saw I use.

If I had my druthers I'd have an 046.
