Been using the same Granberg guide for ~35 yrs., only because it works so well, precisely and repeatably. Except for rocks and spikes, every couple of tanks each cutter gets a single stroke, to keep it like a razor. Try that free hand!
It goes with me into the woods in my tool-bag. Got an NT grinder for rocks- so far only on buds' chains.

I started using the husky file kit when I first started cutting, really help me get the feel of it, I still us it every other time to keep things right, I also hacked down a junk bar and rounded the ends to put into my vise when the chain is off the saw. The kits can be found at lowes for around $15.00.

I go with the stihl sharpening kits.theyre $20 at the stihl shop.I would really like to try the double file guide with the raker file but for $40 I just cant justify it right now.

I did not cut down my 'scrap' bars, but did drive the nose sprockets out to work with any gauge chain.

Actually got one from my local STIHL dealer's scrap pile (worn sprocket) when I told him what I wanted it for.

One vise works with all the pictured guides!

Are you still selling these? How do I get one?
Thanks!

Ok, I will tonight.

Quick question though, can you unlock the vise and move the chain wile the filing jig is connected?

Thanks!
Don't mean to step on toes but... I have one and yes you can unlock the vise (see the 2 black arms at each end) @Real Fast Travis. I bought mine a couple of years ago and use it all the time in my shop. Homelite410 is a talented machinist and I think his chainsaw vice is the cat's meow, a real quality tool that holds any saw chain rock-steady. I even managed to squeeze my old granberg file-n-joint on it and it worked well before I switched to a timberline.
In my opinion, @Homelite410's chain saw vices are worth every penny you pay for them.:rock2:

Cool, thanks for the info. I just want to make sure I won't need to remove whatever guide I am using every time I need to advance the chain.
Thanks!
