Finally bought my BIG saw--needs repairs

I had the same problem with a .063 bar. I was going crazy trying to figure out what was going on. It turns out it was the chain. I had milled a big burl with lots of grit in it and it must have worn the drivers down. I knew they were .063 because they came off a spool of .063. I bought a bar rail closer and that helped a little but the main cause was the chain.

By the looks of your bar I can't believe its that worn. I could be wrong. I'd make sure the bar was completely worn to .060 all the way down in the grove before I switched to .058. If its still tight towards the bottom I'd get a rail closer and tighten it up. Hope that helps.

time for a muffler mod?

How well would this saw respond to a muffler mod? It looks like the hole in the muffler is kind of small and might need to be opened up a bit. Anyone ever muffler mod this saw before?

cutting straight now

I realized that the bar rails weren't as true as I first thought so I filed them down. I also bought a new loop of Oregon LGX and the saw is now cutting straight.

How much of a difference will I notice with a muffler mod on this saw?

Did some more cutting today

Point taken on keeping my thumb under the handlebar. I'm uploading a couple more videos I shot today cutting on this log. In one of them you can see me remember your advice.

Here are some pictures from today's cutting. I'm running my 32" bar with Oregon LGX chisel full comp chain. Blocking up the rounds I switched to my 20" bar and an 8 pin rim and the noodles were flying

I am not familiar with Dolmar saws, but it seems to be holding the RPM's fairly well in the wood. I would highly recommend a muffler mod on this one. I can't say fot the specific saw, but I can almost gaurantee it will produce some results. Especially since the exhaust hole looks a little small.
