Well, its that time of year again. Getting cooler, days shorter.... Time to start selling firewood again! I cut and split about six cords yesterday and this morning. People have already started calling. Maybe I'll get some pics posted this weekend:)

I've been busy with the same. I can't seem to sell anything unless it's seasoned though, and I'm running out of that. No one wants to season their own wood, they want me to handle it two more times and then charge them more. Go figure. I've let so much go I'm starting to wonder if I'll have enough for myself. I certainly will be looKing for some more OaK tops to cut soon.

Yeah it is that time of year ,we used to sell a lot of wood years ago but its finally tapered off to zilch.........other than what I split for myself, family, and friends. I am glad too........ very few loads that I hauled was I able to just back in their yard and throw it out it was always...... you cant back in the yard........ and you would have to wheelbarrow aound back then they would want it stacked or taken down in the basement and stacked and so on...........I really dont miss that part of it. I do enjoy splitting good straight grained wood like chestnut, red oak, and ash. I just bought a outside woodburning furnace so I am looking forward to putting some wood into so I can see it work...............Happy splitting,Wade

You better sell as much of that firewood now as you can, cause if that hurricane comes this way, people may have more than they want.

We got started a little early on the firewood in northern Indiana since the little tornado came through. It was two years ago that we got hit with a major fall twister now another one to remind us mother nature likes to raise hell. This one laid over and snapped a considerable bunch of nice trees. It's still a little warm here for everyday sawing 80-90 degrees but the clearing of downed timber and cutting of firewood has begun!! The Hoosier

Sharpen your chain it's a jungle out there!!

Hey Rob, is that summerwood that you left along the curb? You know, all arborists cut summerwood, some are this long, some are that long. Generally all groundies determine block length by how dull the saw is, thus reducing it to chunkwood, but the locals can fit it in their trunks and drive it home to create toboggans with their 021's.

Hell I have more wood cut than I can store right now! In fact I was at my bosses property (300 acres!) and found a HUGE Cherry tree that had been knocked down from a storm about a year ago. Not sure what to do with it yet. I figure that the amount of wood I have cut, versus buying it has already paid for my saws by now.

And one more of my 360 PRO and my little lady lumberjack in training....

She enjoys taking cut cookies and running off with them spreading them all over my yard!!!

And one more of "Tango" on the trail of a would be chipmunk! Next worse thing to a Squirrl (no offense Rocky J). Well if she doesent get it, I got her back with the .22 or maybe the .30-30...

Yes sir they call it trunk wood for a reason! One guy wants willow for making shoes and bowls. Willow for bowls? sometimes they line up for free wood-thinking about offering wood for draging brush.

Hey Drew, nice saw can I have it? Nice dog also.

SB-

As someone on here puts it..."My Wife, maybe. My dog, no. My tools NEVER!"

But I would have to change the wife part to NO as well :D

"T" is a great dog, just over 1 year, and hopefully will have her mouth full of Pheasants this season!!!!

Take care all!

If you couldnt tell, I just figured out how to post pics. Startin to fell like Gypsyter!

i've got all my wood laid up for this year, mostly walnut and locust, with some cherry and a smattering of maple. my two-year wood is mostly maple, but i have a big pile of locust cut that i can't get to until the ground freezes. (got to drive through someone's newly planted yard.)

given what they're saying about natural gas prices and another cold winter, i think you wood sellers might have a good year.

i ballparked what it would cost to heat my place with oil ($1300) versus what i spent this year on wood cutting ($100 misc. for gas, oil, etc...) and i get a big grin on my face. even if i would have paid for the wood (6 full cords @ $100) i still come out ahead, and in the winter, our house is cozy warm.

I've got at least 5-6 years of firewood cut and split. So much that some of it is lying in piles out in the open and I'm building another shed to get it under cover.

Cutting firewood is a great winter activity. And now I'm into milling too. Should be a great winter. Loose a few pounds, stay in shape, and do something useful at the same time. Been burning wood exclusively since 1976.

???? tornado here ruined the sales, most people are just giving it away...
ba a few years beforei can make some money again.

Here a pic of one of my master hunters. This dog was bred by None other than George hickox. Mitzy has been out in the bay retieving ducks and tons of geese.

Here's a shot of a nice morning shooting ducks with hand carved decoys. If you want to blast ducks get to south america for some real fun. 150-200 ducks a morning. These ducks were from VT.
