The bearing on the clutch side is as smooth as can be. It free spins and there is no slop in it. I have to rig something up to pull the flywheel, or just wait for the puller I oredered to get here. I don't want to beat it out. Can't wait to clean her up and paint it. If I wait for my wife to go to sleep, I might be able to sneak the parts into the dishwasher, and if I'm really lucky, I won't get caught either.

I know it is hard but wait for the puller.....

What puller did you get???

Stihl part number 1110 890 4500. There just isn't enough clearence for any of my jaw style pullers that I have. I might be able to press it out with my bench vise, but I have enough experience with things like that to know that patience is much better than fixing your own screw up because you just couldn't wait.

I too have to say excellent idea on the unitstrut splitter! I think I will try this out with my 385xp case I have to split. Thanks

Your half way there or just at least your case is split in half..:D

Thanks for pics keep them coming even though it's a pain to take pics of progress as you do the work.

When all done with the saw, come down to Roxbury and buck up some downed trees to test your saw and so that I can have campfire wood ready for memorial day weekend.:greenchainsaw: Oh Yea bring the quad to drag them closer to the firepit.

Have to buy the quad yet, but if I ever get down to Jersey, I'll look you up. Around here pics are the only way to prove anything, you can say you've done it all day long but no one will believe it until they see it.

I tried to get my dealer to order me one of those but they would not use the numbers I had and could not find their own.. So I got the moped one.....Made life better for sure....

Is it a matter of they just would not sell you the tool or a bad number? I got lucky because I work on this guy's heat and air conditioning through the company I work for and I never charge his company for all of my time, makes him look better to his people and helps me out on things like this.

They would not trust my number...

This was over a year ago and now they realize that thanks to this site I have better IPL's then they do...

One point their books show no eclectic ignitions on 031 but mine does....

Any way we are great friends now and I get stuff free more then I have to pay for these days...

never had any problems with the moped one...

or the redneck version...

just a 5/8 pipe extension with a bolt tacked to a threaded nut long enough to break the tension. the flywheel isn't "pressed' on too much.

I didn't realize that those were standard pipe threads, I might have to try that out. Nice work.

they aren't standard threads but the Pipe fitting is tapered and you just need a few threads to grab on to. be gentle so you dont foul up the threads running it in too hard. The flywheel isn't pressed on very hard at all. That's why a 'tap' or a 'tug' sometimes is all that is needed.

I tried the "tap and tug" method, but she didn't want to come off and I hate horsing stuff if I don't have to. I have broken too much stuff horsing it.

Nice work

For a minute a I thought you were in my garage. I have a piece of uni strut that size laying next to a 660 I'm going to split. I figured it would work pretty well. Just got my flywheel puller today, took less than 30 seconds to pop it off. Sure makes it easy.

I was hinting for you to ride down to Roxbury(Delaware County):D. Have a few acres there for the get away camping trips with the family. Have not been there since memorial day.

Pics definately say it all. Good work so far and nice case splitter.

don't horse around if it don't feel right.

If I remember its 19mm threads you can use the same Idea as in the picture though...or you can do the hardest thing in the world....wait for the right tools :hmm3grin2orange:

The puller will be here on Monday. I hate waiting. Started cleaning and degreasing the clutch side half of the case, getting it ready to paint it tomorrow night.

This is great i will be doing my 026 now thanks to this

Good luck, I am cleaning the clutch side of the case now and using permatex for body filler to clean up the pitting. Hopefully I will be ready to paint tomorrow night.

Update

Finally have all of the parts, finally got the flywheel puller today and I tell you what it was needed. I had a helluva time getting it apart with the puller. Have about half of the saw painted and will be working on the flywheel side of the crankcase tonight. All that will be left will be putting it back together. Will post pics when I start to put it all back together.

Needs pic's or it never happened!!!!

Sounds like it is coming right along....
