Well, where does it put 'em if Stihl is "average" The only one I could think of is below, certainly not above.:monkey:

Sounds like you had a problem motor, not the norm for sure and any manufacturer is capable of putting out a dog....That does suck to hear though!
My kids have ridden ours for 4-5 hours at a time, non stop/wide open, motor never misses a beat (now if I could only keep the rest of the kart together) doesn't use oil and almost thinks fuel isn't required.
Did you call Subaru and/or take it to a certified service center?.....Motor should have been warrantied for 2 years and surely they would stand behind a motor performing that poorly.
And no I did not take it in , I should have but dont have a place close and just didnt want to deal with the warranty run around, If you know what I mean!
Way to go Joat. Just goes to show people make all the differance in the world.
If you get that thing back together and she doesn't run like it should you send me that huzzy. Hell, high water or blizzard I'll get it right and your bill will be a big $O.OO That 30% raise I got from Belgian will more than cover my costs, hahahahaha
...but any air or throttle will kill it.
Joat, please don't take this the wrong way, but I have to suggest something here.
You've run non-stihl stuff for a long time...is it possible that you're just expecting too much?
.
FatGuy, turn out the light.
Joat
Woodrow,
Well, well. You've solved it. We can all go home now.
FatGuy, turn out the light.

I know how ya feel....My mistake though....Subaru actually warranties the motors for 3 years not 2 so you may still have time to get it fixed or replaced.
Robin/Subaru/Fuji is a proud co. and from what I heard, any problems with their small engines are dealt with promptly.
...
The guys have tried Huskys and they were not reliable and heavy,
The Echos were really heavy and the Kawa's were not powerful enough and heavy.....
Fastcast - out of curiosity what OS do you use if you don't like Microsoft OS's?
burp.....:kilt::kilt:

Tommy, are you seriously surprised that a 2-stroke is more powerful than a similar-sized 4-stroke? As my former boss used to say, "That's not rocket scientry."
In addition, go back to my original post and re-read the part where I talked about max-power rpm vs. max operating rpm. Then go back and correct yourself.
Tommy, that Kawi is one of the finest is no real trade secret. And no offense, but if you took off your orange-and-gray colored sunglasses, you'd see that, for the most part, stihl OPE is very, very, very...
...average.
So stihl is the Chevrolet of OPE. Great name recognition, but very average wares. So what? (And Husqvarna still outsells them, by a HUGE margin, and you know it.) We've been through this before...VW outsells their sibling Bentley, but I don't think you'll find many people saying VW is 'better.' They're just cheaper.
Dismissed.

Oh but I have, in that very field in the pic above and the 100 left with it's tail between it's legs..... that’s why I can say such things without fear.
Truth is they are pretty close, but the Kawi was on top and the Stihl left with some boobys tattooed on it's back.
Why is it that some folks don't listen to people who do have experience in the field....
I don't know...you tell me.
