Just as a point of interest, didn`t Art also say that he found full house to not be worth the effort? Are we getting itchy trigger fingers?

First of all, Rich- love your Dalek!

Dennis C, all Rich was asking was what was involved in making the chain, not whether it was worth the time to do, or if it would beat anyone elses' chain. Yes, you did eventually give some advice and comments, but the key word is: eventually.
Have you considered the possibility that many people posting on this site are actually not die hard chainsaw racers? That maybe some of us are quite content to be "chainsaw nerds" and play around with stuff just for kicks? You have a passion for competition and being the best at what you do. That is great, but please cut the rest of us a little slack.

Sawboy (alias) Rick, Noel, Theman, Tommy, TFJ, etc.

You remind me of the bank robber who wrote a note "this is a robbery" on the back of his deposit slip and hended it to the bank teller.

The emails you have been sending me has the sender's name as Tom Fales.

This Sawboy sounds like a real slick character....
Maybe he should look into detective work instead of racing saws...

Jokers,
When I referred to the many other experimental chains, as well to the full house chain, in my articles on the Art Martin site, this is what I said; (referring to the other tooth patterns that I have tried). “Some work real good and others were probably a waste of time”. My fastest chain so far is the full house ½” pitch chisel chain for small logs, up to 17” or so. But I will add that the description submitted by another person on the site of how to make a full house chain, isn’t even close to how I made mine. How could it be? Others such as Ruppydogy and Rotax, didn’t have much luck either, but they tried. I used a lot of ½” chisel chain teeth but I didn’t care since I have so much of it that I will probably never use anyway.

Thanks for the refresher Art, I`ve got to admit that I was too busy(lazy) to go back and read through to find your statement, but I was obviously off the mark. My mistake, didn`t mean to put words in your mouth.

066 Ricky, Right now I don't know, it all depends on how my hips feeling. If you compete try to go there, it's a great time, and if you can win there your doing good.

Woodbeard, I gave you my opinion about full house chain because it really is a whole lot of work and time to build and maintain without being any better than a full comp. chain. Not something a weekend warrior would want to waste his time on, but if you still want to build one I think the information I gave will get you started or give you and idea of what it looks like. With some help I stayed off subject, but eventually I think you've got you answer. Thanks Dennis

An attempt with an empty house.
after i finished this it was slower than a full comp chain.

Jim, it looks like you cut the wrong end off the tooth, if you take the tooth back instead of cutting the back off, you will narrow the kerf and help its ability to cut faster, it will also help to get the cutting edge futher from the fulcrum.
Art, I thought Roberts chain cut OK.

Mike, Right now I wouldn't worry about how good the chain cut, because you really just need to learn how to run a chain saw. Your an accident waiting to happen. You come real close to hitting the ground and your leg. A guy like you should just his buy wood. Even Gypo logger can make a chain cut better than your best piece of barb-wire. JimL take Sawracr's advise there is a sweet spot on the tooth and it isn't on the front of the tooth like Mike thinks. Dennis

You are right Dennis. If you watch, I am suprised by how fast it ripped through the log and mimicked how it almost hit my foot. That's one reason they don't let me bring my toys to work too often. :(

I spent about 40 hours (on and off) and 12 cases of beer (in one sitting) on that chain, and it fell through the wood so fast I almost cut my foot off.
Notice, I am wearing all the ANSI stuff, steel toe, kevlar boots, and chaps, inclusive.

Treeco, duh, what's that about dull minds, duh...

Who edited my other video, and why?

one thing thatwas a totally hard thing for me to learn ,,is u are usually rejecting part of u self udont like,, when u try to reject another human being.. a way to better u self is learn to deal withum .note here,, livin withum ,mite mean doing the hard thing and just ,landing a sucker punch that puts things in order..,not advocating that anymore, even tho ive seen it be doing them a favor.. they always gonna be there..
unless the sheriff decides to runnim outa town..sheriff is the 500lb gorilla here ,,like it or not .. and i know its a total necessity ,iuf we gonna have a place wecan exist in..
ps theys so much good in the worst and so much bad in the best..besides thank goodness ,,the biggest moderators job been taken for centuries. i do believe he wants us to stick it out withum,,cause he does.. jmo.
this kinda makes me think of the old duke in who shot liberty valance..thats a movie for any to young to know..

Mike, chip clearance is not a bad idea but , without taking so much off the back of the tooth you can angle the top plate foward, gaining chip clearance and allowing the front to be cut back at least to the front of the back rivit, once again a narrow kerf cuts faster. Want something to think about? 404 teeth on a 375 chasis. (chip clearance) Later Jon

Jon.

Since the topic is full house chain, apparently you and your brother haven't been paying attention. Don't be giving out misleading information like someone else on the site. Mike Maas is correct. When I first introduced my version of the chain in 1998, You ran it in Fort Bragg using my 090 and your actual cutting times proved it really works. It's just the undetectable finishing procedure that I do that makes it so fast.

Rolling the file, dipped in nev`r dull of course!

Sorry, no offense intended Art, I`ve just had too much caffeine today.

Russ

Art, you "old cull" your darn right I remember running that full house chain! heck if you had a real operator on that saw, it could have won the event, ( fact only fact ). You know if you would just retire from filing, you would'nt P.O. the hot dogs.
Your Clown Jon

well i guess i just had to try it for myself, so i started to make one of these chains tonight , should have it done by tomorrow
but i think i have to agree with Dennis C that i am wasting my time but i have to know , if it cuts faster than my normal race chain i will be surprized
god it is nice to have machines do the work for you, the chain is only 60 drivers but in under 2 hours i have done my thinning plus put the chain together , the back of the tooth and done the rackers, so i may have it ready for john 's on sunday if it works any better
